Father Christmas: should he 'provide' all the DC presents or just 1 or 2?

In my house Father Christmas brings just one present, all the others come from Mummy and Daddy, Grandparents, Aunts / Uncles, friends etc. Shocked to learn from a few friends that in their houses Father Christmas brings ALL the presents, even those from grandparents, aunts / uncles. To me this in plain disrespectful to all those that have brought the presents. The DC never get to appreciate that their family have carefully chosen and spent money buying them a present. I was brought up to write thank you letters after Christmas. It was a terrific bore but we did appreciate that our family had sent us presents. What's the arrangement in your home?

I've seen a thread about this kick off. People are very protective of their Christmas traditions!

We had a stocking/ pillowcase of goodies from Santa (small bits and bobs, including toothbrush, orange and chocs every year) and 1 'big' present from parents, plus all the other ones from friends and family, being labelled as being from them. That's how we choose to carry it on with our dc. Plus the Thankyou letters that go with them . I don't think I could take a tag off a present and pretend it was from FC.

Santa brings one big present or a few smaller ones. Everything else from whoever sent them.

Santa bringing ALL presents is madness.

We give ds 1 biggish present, family give him their own presents and Santa brings a stocking and a pile of other presents.

santa brings the presents that we buy and anything from aunts, uncles, etc is from that person. DD (8) seems to think the elves work in banking as she thinks they debit the money from our bank account to pay for the presents (so although santa brings the presents we still pay for them!)

seona, my dsis thought the opposite. At around 7 when all her friends were telling her santa doesn't exist, she told my Mum that he definitely DOES exist because there is no way my parents could afford the presents! Bless.

Last year he just gave the stockings (it was their first year with stockings, they were 3 and 1)

This year - and in future years I think - Santa will bring the stockings and one main joint present (dressing up box this year). Everything else is from whoever bought it.

Santa also brings DH and I something though - something we both really want like a particular DVD box set or board game - after all we've been good all year too :o

Father Christmas (not Santa) brings the stocking presents - not much room on the sleigh for all the presents for all the boys and girls in the whole world. These are small, fit in a proper woollen stocking and are opened first thing.
Mummy and Daddy buy "main" presents, Uncles and Aunts etc bring their own present, and are thanked with a letter.

FC/SC ONLY brings stocking presents to this house!!

If you think some large chap, with a huge white beard and distasteful red velevet suit is going to get the credit for DC1's Octonauts Octopod, you're seriously mistaken

FC delivers all the gifts to our house BUT is only responsible for the stocking presents. All the rest are paid for by mama & papa but we order via FC :o

Here Father Christmas brings the stockings full of little bits and pieces/ small presents. This years examples : choc coins, wind up toy,Barbie doll, watch.

He then brings one or two things for each of the girls. Generally something they have mentioned. DD1- Lalaloopsy Doll DD2- Magnetic Scribbler

Then their main presents come from us plus a few other bits.

Father Christmas brings to our house a stocking and bag of little (and often silly) presents and chocolate.

All presents are from friends and relatives and are labelled as such, and go under the tree, and are saved up to be opened after the Queen's speech thus spreading the unwrapping through the day. Father Christmas is quite good at finding things for the stocking that will provide enough entertainment on the day until the one's under the tree can be leapt on.

With DS (8) I do what my parents did with me and dsis. Father Christmas brings the ton of presents - big and small that arrive in the stocking and big bag DS leaves out. And he gets all the credit for these. I give him something little - or not at all - he never seems to notice - nor complain like dsis and I used to do that Santa brings us ALL this stuff and mum and dad give us something really small like a torch (we did love thoses torches tho!!) Big problem there however is that Santa of course has unlimited funds so therefore able to shell out on expensive stuff over the years - Wiis Dss netbooks etc.

He does get a lot at Christmas but for the rest of the year (apart from birthday) I don't spend that much on him so do love to spoil him at Christmas even if he doesn't know I'm doing it. I tend to store stuff up over the year rather than just giving it to him so there's a load going on on the big day.

Everyone else gives him presents too and they're from them. Sometimes one from me too. Then he takes till Easter to send out thank yous - but he does eventually - except one to Santa!! (or me)

In our house Santa brings the almost everything, DD who's 7 was told at school last week that he wasn't real and she turned round and said of course he his because my mum couldn't afford all the present

I give them a smallish gift, and everyother presents they receive are given from that person.

I do the same as when I was younger :)
