Fun board game for adults?

Has anyone got any suggestions for a good board game for adults? Ideally one that can be played by 2 players. We like Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble, was thinking maybe something like Articulate but is that any good for 2 players?

Thanks in advance!

Cranium is brilliant - may need 3 players though, I can't remember sorry!

Lots of people seem to like that Carcasonne (sp?) one.

We actually do have Cranium which is great but you do need at least 4 people as you need to do it in teams.

Will look into the one you suggested though Pombear.

Thanks guys.

Any more ideas anyone?

Not technically a board game but very fun is the chocolate Russian roulette. Debenhams sell it for £5 and it has become a staple in our house, a real highlight of the day. You need a minimum of two players, take turns to spin the wheel and eat the bullet shaped chocolate for the number it lands on. All are chocolate except for one which is a raw chili covered in chocolate. Make sure you have the camera handy if you play this thoUgh!

Absolute Balderdash is really good.

Scruples is brilliant if you like arguing! All about moral dilemmas. Excellent.

Bannanagrams is good - quicker and livlier than scrabble

Settlers of Catan

I can recommend Abalone. We bought it for DS but DP and I are always jostling to play each other. You move coloured balls across a hexagonal shaped board, trying to push each other's balls over the edge (er, a lot more fun than I have made it sound)

DH and I love Rummikub, Scrabble, Boggle, Upwords. Also Carcassonne and Settlers are very good. If we have 4+ people (ie enough for teams) our favourite is The Big Taboo (hysterical at times) or Cranium.
