Cakes for grown ups at School event

School has a Christmas Disco for children and run a cafe type thing for parents whilst they are waiting. They want donations of cakes, mince pies, etc. Can I make some christmas themed cupcakes (more for children)? Or should I go for a big cake they can cut up?

Cupcakes all round, otherwise you get into needing knives to cut and forks to eat with and plates for it to go on.

Id say Cupcakes as they are less hassle, Dont need plates, Knives to cut it up or cutlery to eat them with.

Oh good! I had some rather childish ideas for cupcakes but wondered if I should be more sophis as it's for grown-ups. But it is Christmas after all.

I've never made Florentines but they are quite sophisticated. Do tiny ones and use plain and white chocolate for contrast.

We've made Christmas cake muffins for school's Christmas fair. The usual muffin mix contains mincemeat and chopped bits of marzipan. Decorate the tops with flaked almonds or white icing with small festive decoration. Very seasonal, more sophisticated (I hope) than fairy cakes and, unless you dislike any of the above ingredients, absolutely delicious. All the flavours of Christmas cake without the sickly richness, imo.
