The plan is (i think) to make my own crackers. Have sussed the whole "package" part of the cracker but am struggling what the heck to put in them Confused

have 3 kids - dd1 is 12, ds is 9 and dd2 is 8. Also have 2 sets of parents and my grandparents, dh and me.

could be novelty or cheeky or funny or something a bit nicer?
am open to all and every suggestion please mner's Smile

What's your budget?

This year I'm putting in a troll bead for DD, a pair of earrings for me and a memory stick for DH. Then to use up the other 3 another day I'm putting in a Christmas lottery scratch card and a chocolate.

In the past I've put in cigars, my dad has used indoor fireworks (so everybody gets one and then they are lit at the end of the meal), mini perfume, cufflinks, a small tube of my MIL's favourite handcream, vouchers (have to be paper as credit card style ones don't fit). I also once rammed a pair of socks in, but that was a squeeze.

Most jewellery would fit, and small toys or stationery might be good for the DC. Chocolate is always good, but that's true even without a cracker. Miniture alcohol/ spirits fit in nicely, but be careful when you pull the cracker.

Off the top of my head:

hair clips/slides/scrunchies
badges
Matchbox car
lipgloss/lipstick
eyeshadow
mini handbag pen
key ring
bookmark
tiny soft toy
packs of seeds for a gardener

Quite a lot of things will fit in a cracker if you remove them from their packaging first, so don't let it put you off.

mini sparklers?

Ismeyes · 24/11/2011 12:21

I've just made mine this morning!

For DH I put in a trio of teeny whiskey bottles here

I got myself a miniature vanilla vodka from the same website

For DD (5) have put in a couple of moshi monster moshling figures which cost me 99p for 2 in a bag in Sainsbury's half price toy sale

For my mum I got a miniature bottle of perfume from, you guessed it, the same website

For my dad I got him a silver keyring

I have also put a Christmas scratchcard in each.

ooh thank you for these Smile

am liking the seeds for a gardener idea - mil is very tricky
tbh am wavering between going for small very nice things or cheap and cheerful. Hadnt thought of a scratchcard either wich i think would be nice
off to check out Ismeyes website Gin
