Just seem in 'Recipe of the Week' that Stir-up Sunday is (was) 20th Novemeber

I thought it was the last Sunday before Advent!!!!!

^tries to ignore the fact that she missed it last year too^

Erm, is it not advent Sunday this Sunday (27th) which would make the 20th the last Sunday before Advent

Combinearvester · 23/11/2011 19:11

They definitely did the 'stir up, oh Lord' at ours last Sun. Sorry.

Grin

Oh right, I see, it's connected to Church.

squirms in seat on realisation of own stupidity

What with advent being a religious thing and all

starts to wander off

...and not just an name for an calendar that counts down to Christmas day

begins to run and hopes no one actually noticed

There, there, I'm sure no one noticed, and me typing this down won't in any way put this thread back into active convos so even less people will notice Grin

I'm with you moln - I thought it was this sunday... luckily I have most of my ingredients already Grin

Ha ha

Though now I've (finally) asked it's answered two questions

  1. Why I keep missing it
  2. The reason it's the 'last Sunday before advent' and not 'the last Sunday of November'

I will go to bed more educated tonight!

This year was the first time I found out it was stir-up Sunday in church before I found out on the Archers ...

CDMforever · 23/11/2011 20:23

I only found it was last sunday from MN.

And for once I can be a major smuggard - we stirred, we wished, we baked and I felt very very warm and fluffy inside.

No one actully eats the damn thing at xmas but what the hey Grin
