The only time ive missed woolworths was when I'd forgotten to buy easter eggs and they would of been the ideal place, near to my work, where I could of picked some up from.

iggi999 · 21/11/2011 21:32

Avantia · 21/11/2011 21:32

Woolworths is for life not just Christmas Grin

eversoslightlytired · 21/11/2011 21:33

Another 38 year old missing Woolworths. Going online is just not the same

acsec · 21/11/2011 21:34

I too miss Woolies! I often think of things I need and automatically think I'll pop into Woolworths on my way home, then I remember...:(

NickNacks · 21/11/2011 21:38

I miss it too!

especially my staff discount

Littlewoodsmuvvah · 21/11/2011 21:44

I miss Woolworths and so do my DDs. DD1 cried when they shut down. She was 7 and had known Woolies all her life.

TeaOneSugar · 21/11/2011 21:56

I miss Woolies :(

fivegomadindorset · 21/11/2011 21:58

NOt me because I have Wellworths or as it is now known, Wellchester, opened by the manager of the Woolworth's when it closed down and does exactly the same thing.

CherryMonster · 21/11/2011 22:13

i miss it too, i used to buy all my cd's and dvd's from them. they are still online as far as i know though.

stressheaderic · 21/11/2011 22:17

Wilko is kind of the new Woolies round here, but not quite the same.

I miss Woolies a lot. Ladybird clothes, Chad Valley toys, lovely stationery....so sad it's all gone. Like, properly gutted. I really need to have a word with myself.

olibeansmummy · 21/11/2011 22:47

I miss woollies everytime I go into town as its usually for a present for someone and woolworths would have been the perfect place to get it!

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 21/11/2011 23:04

But it's still avaliable online

No browsing round the shops, but there again, no queues!

PrimaBallerina · 21/11/2011 23:28

I've paid £9 for big Dairy Milks from Superdrug. Come back Woolies!

Marne · 22/11/2011 10:30

Dh was just saying yesterday how christmas shopping is not the same with out woolworths Sad, they always had great offers, good decorations, 3 for 2's and bargain toys.

MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 22/11/2011 10:34

I miss woolies for the Pick n Mix.

Its just not the same in Wilko.

crazynanna · 22/11/2011 10:43

It was losing a friend Sad
I knew all the staff on a first name basis, they knew my dcs' names, what they liked, and would put aside new things for them when they came in. It was literally on my doorstep,so my Chrstmas shopping was so easy!
School uniforms...batteries....decorating,the lot.
It's now an Iceland..and even now when I walk past...I look in and say "that's where the sweets was, that's where the tills were"

God I miss it.

mumbrane · 22/11/2011 10:55

It was such a handy shop for cards, sweets, wrapping paper and small gifts for teachers, neighbours etc. I really miss it, too.

toddlerama · 22/11/2011 11:03

REALLY??? You must have had much fancier Woolies than our local one! Dirty, dusty, nothing had price stickers on.

I do miss the easter eggs but that is about it!

Marne · 22/11/2011 12:51

fivegomad- we pop into Wellchester when dd2 has hospital appointments (most weeks), its almost as good as wollies but doesn't have the great toy offers that wollies had Sad, still has good pick and mix though Smile.

lme30005 · 22/11/2011 20:51

Woolworths online is not the same - another company bought the name only. I really miss Woolies, shed a tear when it went under as I used to work in their head office and know the people loved the place
