Drummer Boy outfit

My DS is going as a Drummer Boy in White/Silver for their Christmas Concert. I have 2 weeks to make this.
I do sew, but am not great at it. I was thinking of a white trousers with silver stripes on the sides. The jacket is tougher.
Has anybody done this, and is there an easy way to make it?

Perhaps a white waistcoat with some silver braiding on it? And a white shirt underneath?

Or turn a long sleeve jersey tee into a fake jacket with braid.

I was also thinking along the lines of a long sleeve jersey and just adding silver epaulettes to the shoulders.
