Bought some mincemeat this year (made my own last year and have to admit it wasn't great!). Anyway, just looking for some tips as how to add a bit of extra flavour to the shop bought one. Definitely going to add a bit of brandy but what else would you recommend?

since making my own several years ago I now add a good glug of brandy and a handful of dried cranberries...much improves the shop bought sort!

I always add some glace cherries.

One year I had some leftover marzipan, so rolled that into little balls and popped them into the pies, under the lid, before cooking.

I bought the Asda extra special rum and raisin mincemeat. Actually just opened it and it smells quite boozy already!

I agree with the grated apple and cranberries. And definitely a good glug of brandy or rum!

Apples, cranberries, more booze all work.
DHs home made mincemeat recipe has dried apricots rather than apple and is delicious and I hate apricots. So the big juicy ready to eat sort might work.

I use orange zest and extra brandy. The orange zest wakes it up, iykwim. ( and I use orange juice in the pastry ).

Chopped almonds?
Chopped apple?
Don't like rum I'd use Amarretto.

Made mincemeat (once) many years ago. Several hours of my life I'll never get back.
