Probably the dullest Christmas thread ever, particularly after the whole B/SIL situation I posted about before :)

PIL like to buy DH and I a joint household type pressie for Christmas, a DAB radio was last years present which was lovely. They've asked us what we would like and we're utterly stuck. Any thoughts on nice things that we might need/want? I think the budget is around £100.

Fancy coffee maker
Canvas artwork of a fave photo
Garden swing seat

LoopyLoopsRootyFroots · 19/11/2011 23:34

I would like a cleaning agency to do a spring clean.

thebigkahuna · 19/11/2011 23:37

Well, for us it would be a steam mop. As boring as that is, we really need one.

PotteringAlong · 19/11/2011 23:40

Garden chair / bench?

Bird table + garden stuff?

I'd have a dyson but I'm dull like that :0

PastGrace · 19/11/2011 23:46

Cast iron casserole (Le Creuset or similar)?
the biggest teapot in the world?
Second vote for a coffee maker if you don't already have one

fifitrixibell · 19/11/2011 23:49

a voucher for a family photo?

or a big photo frame to put lots of family photos in?

NT membership is great if you have younger children - saves us a packet every year as there are lots of properties with great gardens near us.

Sod something domestic. What about afternoon tea for two? Lunch at nice restaurant and baby sitting thrown in.

Miles better than something with a plug.

franke · 19/11/2011 23:53

a slow cooker

MayaAngelCool · 20/11/2011 00:24

If you don't actually need anything domestic, then tell them so. Ask for a Carluccio's Xmas hamper instead. But don't tell me if you get one, or I'll be Envy

Luxurious duvet
Tableware
Something towards a wine cellar
Coffee machine
Panini maker/grill
Raclette grill or fondue set
Box set of dvds you both want

jasper · 20/11/2011 01:04

restaurant voucher

MissIngaFewmarbles · 20/11/2011 01:04

B/SIL always get us all a small hamper from Carluccios so that's out. I would love a family photo shoot but DH HATES having his photo taken, the only pictures I have of him are from our wedding, it's a real phobia with him.

Artwork might be nice.

I could think of a ton of kitchen stuff that I would love but DH doesn't cook (he does clean though :) ) so really any kitchen bits would be for me. We have a coffee maker.

We did consider a small TV for our bedroom but we tend to watch mostly programmes that we've recorded and I don't know how expensive it is to have that option for an extra set.

They have offered to get us a mattress topper before now but TBH I felt a bit odd about shagging on something they'd bought us IYSWIM Blush

God we're really difficult to buy for aren't we? I'm really easy as an individual, but DH is tricky and together it's a flipping nightmare. Still I think we are incredibly lucky to be in a position where we can't immediately think of loads of things we need.

Oooh posh toastie maker, that would be lovely. Even DH could use that Grin

Yes we love our panini grill, you can make regular cheese toasties, asparagus etc on it too, but the paninis are delish!

MissIngaFewmarbles · 20/11/2011 01:14

OK binfull, which one do you have?

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 20/11/2011 01:33

MissIngaFewmarbles · 20/11/2011 01:34

Had to nip down for tooth fairy money anyhow!

It's a Krups panini and heath grill.

apple tv ?

PrettyPirate · 20/11/2011 08:09

We are getting national trust membership for a year from inlaws.

MissIngaFewmarbles · 22/11/2011 11:46

I think NT membership is a great idea but DH doesn't think we'd use it enough

Some other kind of outing/concert/show/theatre you're likely to do/go? Last year we asked for tickets to go see Cirque de Soleil, it was very expensive but it was from MIL, FIL and BIL and they weren't allowed to get us anything else, only little pressie for kids.

MissIngaFewmarbles · 22/11/2011 12:01

see I think a grown up outing is a great idea but PIL seem keen for it to be a housy thing.
