What are you getting your 3-4yo?

DS will be 3+10months.
I thought about a balance bike, but most are more than I want to spend, or the cheap ones are poor quality.
Thought about mini micro scooter, but that has a max wt. of 20kg & I don't want to worry about my older DC trashing it.

DS Already has a pedal-ride-on tractor, a few old 2 wheel scooters, 12" pedal bikes with & without stabilisers. Has 3 older siblings & all their old "stuff" to play with.

Ideas? What are you lot getting your 3-4yo DC?
I don't really mind getting him something that only costs a tenner or even less, as long as he loves it. Other DC getting as their main prezzie (I think) cash and a metal detector. So something quite nice for just a tenner might not look out of place...

DS will be 3y 7 mo.

He is getting the Playmobil ambulance as his main present - he loves DD's playmobil and is finally old enough to deal with (most of) the tiny bits.

Also a dressing gown, Fireman Sam DVD and I'm getting them a set of board games to share - he is nearly old enough to play things like snakes and ladders, as long as the game only lasts 5 minutes.

I'm thinking of getting Woody as DD has just discovered Toy Story. But they're £30!!! DH thinks it's a waste of money and I probably agree in the long term, but she would be overjoyed on Christmas morning.

I have no idea what to get DS (aged 4.1). As he's just had a birthday that used up all my good ideas! Something he absolutely loved that my sister bought him was this:
Playmobil Dinosaur Set
He's massively into dinosaurs and plays with it every day.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 18/11/2011 17:08

My youngest is getting a dinosaur dress up costume, a Kota Pals baby stegosaurus (there are a whole set of these but the prices seem to vary quite widely so I just went for the cheapest one - we already have a pterodactyl) and several board/boxed games. Play.com were having a sale on Orchard games the other day so I went a bit made Grin and got him some from Santa and spent the money my mam allocated to him on some too. I got YoHoHo something or other, DoodleBugs and something about Monkeys and bananas, a bit like snakes and ladders but with banana skins to slip on. I figure my 7 and 9 yr olds will play them with him, they will sit and play reasonably nicely sometimes...
I got him some armouron too, the starter set, the long and short swords and am debating whether to get one of the attachement accessory sets or not. These are all much cheaper on Amazon than they are elsewhere, and the starter set of the actual armour is in a satisfyingly big box Grin

Ooh, I think maybe I've found the right sort of thing ( or maybe this). We already have a meccano-type set which DS enjoys playing with (first of DC to ever pay it much mind).

Ok DS will be 3.11

He's getting...

2 geomags sets
Dotty dinosaurs game
Shopping list game
Maxi Micro Scooter
Leap pad with 2 games
Darth Vader dress up
ELC shopping till and play food
Cars Operation game
Deluxe Buzz Lightyear

Disclaimer not all from us! Family presents too!

cherub59 · 18/11/2011 18:42

Don't bother with a balance bike. Buy a normal bike and take stabilisers and pedals off!!

Our 4 yr old will prob get dressing up clothes from us!!!

MorallyBankrupt · 18/11/2011 18:45

Oh yeah, the balance bike time has passed I think. DS had one from 2 and has really outgrown it. He'll be getting a pedal bike for his birthday in January.

Ditto mini micro.

For the dinosaur people - elf has a great £10 inflatable dinosaur

I am wondering about getting DS (nearly 4) and DD (nearly 2) a dolls' house to share, I think they would both love it but giving it to one of them would be a recipe for disaster as they fight over all their toys, and it's a biggish pressie so don't see why they can't share it.

Also think DS might like some of that old-fashioned car track with the long strips that you can run down the stairs and all over the place (though he won't be allowed to do it on the stairs until DD is older). DB loved it when he was little.

I have suggested family get him lego (he has some of the "baby" sort but think he's ready for the proper sort) or maybe Playmobil.

Now I just need some more ideas for DD, haven't got much idea what she would like really apart from the dolls' house! Maybe some dressing up?

Playmobil campervan and stocking fillers. Its his 4th birthday in jan so he'll get the play dough icecream factory then.
