As a kids party activity? Thought they could each make a special bag of reindeer food to take home.

Go to your local riding stables and ask them for the dog end of a bag of 'hard feed' It might look like pellets or it might look like muesli depending on the type they use. Give them about £1.50 - £2 for it. (A whole big bag costs about £10.)

Bag up in little bags. Some people like to add something like glitter to make it Christmassy but then you can't feed it to anything.

Oats and glitter in a small bag with a reindeer cut out of paper/card stapled to the top (with some instructions on the back telling you to scatter on Christmas Eve...)

My BIL did this with my cousin's kids. It was oats, dried cranberries, some other whole grains. Looked quite tasty as a porridge mix actually...

Use sugar instead of glitter. Its better for birds than glitter and biodegradable.

Then do you have to hoover it up on Christmas eve, stealthily?

I can deal with booze quaffing and biscuit eating, even carrot munching, but hoovering? Naaaah.

If you've chucked it on the grass and used sugar, not glitter, it a) is likely to be eaten by wildlife and b) is forgotten about and/or not noticed by the children.

You can get sugar glitter from cake shops.. It's a few quid but a little goes a long way..

Both authentic glittery AND ok for the environment! Grin

I've got tiny gold edible glitter stars (Lakelnd Limited) that I don't eat because I fear for my fillings (think tinfoil on fillings aaaaahhh!)

I'll mix with porridge oats and coloured sugar.
Cheers!
