have seen some in the John lewis catalogue, but they are nearly £100.
They are called a maxi micro scooter.

She has said she would like a scooter but i really don't want to spend that amount.

she is 8 yrs old so it would have to be big enough so it lasts a few years.

Are the ones with 2 wheels on the front suitable for her or are they just for younger kids?

the maxi micro is a totally different ride to a two wheel scooter, the deck flexes and it corners when you lean like a skateboard. my 9yo and all his friends have them and think they are pretty cool especially with the joystick style handle.

Argos are doing 3 for 2 on all toys including scooters, and the offer finishes tonight.

I quite enjoy riding my DDs micro scooter. She was probably about 8 when she got it and at 13 she still uses it.

A good quality scooter is a 'keeper' not a fad. Excellent choice of xmas present. Smile

Definitely get a stunt scooter. A cheaper foldable one just won't do for an 8 year old in my experience.
