Have tried online....all the big ones - Argos, John Lewis, Boots, Toys R US etc etc and I live in a relatively big town - but to no avail...
Can't seem to ascertain from the Leapfrog website whether they are or aren't in stock - I am hoping that there will be more stock released before christmas - there are 6 weeks to go after all ! I don't really want to pay the over £100 mark they seem to be asking on Amazon. Hilariously people are selling their reserve references numbers on Ebay Shock for Leappads they obviously reserved a while ago in Argos. I'd quite like to get DS (5) one but I'm sure it's not worth that hassle. I'm trying to think laterally of maybe an independent place near us that might stock them....ANyone had success anywhere on line ?

Try here

stickytoffee · 14/11/2011 09:09

Thanks - yep have tried there - and even the links take you to pages where sold out.

I actually suddenly realised that I might be able to buy it from a US Seller and get it shipped as the price itself might be cheaper. I've bought it through Amazon US, in Dollars and for the Leappad with Priority Shipping as they will ship internationally so I'll get it in the next few weeks was £80 ish ....It did seem much easier than trying to get reservation numbers or something from someone else.

I got one from Argos at the weekend. Just keep putting in your postcode. My store came up as having one so I quickly reserved it. I think, tbh, it's just luck of the drawer with them at this point.

MorallyBankrupt · 14/11/2011 09:46

Damn auto correct! Luck of the draw!

ReelAroundTheFountain · 14/11/2011 10:05

I've ended up with two. Amazon had them back in stock for a couple of hours last Thursday and ELC has just fulfilled an order that I placed about 10 days ago. (the ELC one will go back as it's the pink one and I really wanted the green).
Keep trying Amazon a couple of times a day and if ELC will let you place an order even if it says "awaiting stock" then go for it.

ReelAroundTheFountain · 14/11/2011 10:07

Sorry - just read your last post and see you've got one from the US.

stickytoffee · 14/11/2011 12:35

Thanks though - otherwise I might have offered to relieve you of the other. I might reserve another one just in case some arrive and the other one doesn't so I have all avenues covered !

We have been checking on-line every day for the last 2 weeks and checked again last night and managed to reserve some with Argos but then I walked into my local Tesco this morning to find at least 6 of the pink ones on the shelf. I could not believe it. We're in Glasgow if that helps anyone.

gaelicsheep · 14/11/2011 22:12

I hate this. It is so deliberate, probably to hide a pretty mediocre product. Does anyone who has one already believe it's worth all the hype?

gaelicsheep · 14/11/2011 22:13

Oops - actually that post was really about the Innotab, but they're pretty much interchangeable.

perceptionreality · 15/11/2011 00:45

I'm trying to get one here as well. I think it's the only thing my dd with autism will really like so hoping they will become available again. Gaelicsheep - I too wondered whether this was deliberate. Very annoying when this kind of thing is done to increase the popularity of a toy.

Does anyone know if you'd get charged customs fees if you buy from amazon usa? I just got charged customs of £16 for a parcel from the states worth $25, the other day...

maclover135 · 15/11/2011 10:07

sum04 - I've ordered an item from amazon.com and paid import tax as part of the invoice/fee charged. This is supposed to cover customs and in the t&c is says that by paying the tax deposit you authorise the courier to act on your behalf. Have you checked your invoice to see if this was included?

CURIOUSPARENT · 15/11/2011 10:12

I have actually received 2 from Amazon. We pre-ordered and they were due for delivery in a couple of weeks time but then last week we had an email to say it would be dispatched sooner than expected and they have duplicated our order so we have one to go back.

I think Amazon are definitely worth pre-ordering with.

Good luck

CURIOUSPARENT · 15/11/2011 10:13

Also meant to say that the sellers on ebay should not be selling an intangible item (the reservation codes) and ebay will (rightly) kick them off for it.

PosiesOfPoinsettia · 15/11/2011 10:16

Those with two you could either help out an MNer on this thread by selling ti to them....like perceptionreality who wants one for her autistic child or sell them for more on ebay.

I managed to get my DS an innotab from Beescroft toys, online;.

CURIOUSPARENT · 15/11/2011 13:24

Would happily sell to the other one to perception, only want to cover costs which is why I haven't put on ebay - don't want to make out of others misery

perceptionreality · 15/11/2011 14:10

Curiousparent thanks - I have pmed you.

perceptionreality · 15/11/2011 14:55

No worries, I've managed to get one from the Entertainer :)

CURIOUSPARENT · 15/11/2011 15:36

Have emailed you back but just seen that you are sorted.

Glad all ok :)

ReelAroundTheFountain · 15/11/2011 16:05

I would also be happy to pass my pink one on to someone in need. Not looking for profit either. I'm only planning to take it back to ELC. But I do want to sort it in the next day or so as I'm 38 wks pg and don't want to have it hanging around, so it would really need to be collected from me (west London).
