Jewelry (loved bling at that age) itunes vouchers (ditto music at that age) original framed poster of preferred band (will keep huge sentimental value)

A kindle, ghd straighteners, digital camera,a Paul's Boutique handbag would all go down well here.

A good watch (dd would like a swatch)

A makeup hamper made up of boots 3 for 2s, perfume, clensers, cotton wool, nail varnish removed etc. Presented in a nice basket, most girly girls would Love.

Plus insanity's ideas :)

A beauty voucher for a local salon. My dd is 11 and LOVES going to have her hair/nails done. She had the voucher for her b day and has asked for the same thing for Christmas.

She loves clothes vouchers and jewellery too.

DN16 Christmas/bday presents from the last few years from me:

Tabletop facial steamer
Heated rollers
Straighteners
Voucher for a photoshoot/makeover
Topshop vouchers
Decent makeup & skincare stuff

Hmm I think I spoil her... Blush I love her to bits though and we have been close since she was born.

reddaisy · 14/11/2011 21:58

All good present ideas and there are quite a few I would like myself! I am thinking maybe a pamper session at a local salon as she would love that. I am not generally keen on vouchers though as it can be a bit underwhelming on the day for people but obviously they are very practical.

I haven't heard of Paul's boutique, I will google them now. Is that a brand that is in with the kids these days?!

It is round here, the handbags are very much coveted Grin

lilibet · 15/11/2011 21:50

my dd, 23 and ds's girlfriend, 15 both really love onesies!

reddaisy · 16/11/2011 08:02

insanityscratching - thanks for the tip. Apparently it is very cool here too! Who knew I could be so out of touch when I'm only 30! I think we are going to go for a bag and a Mac voucher. Thanks for the help everyone.

Lilibet - I am off to google onesies now, I feel like it is going to be an adult sized babygro!

I've bought my 16yr old dn a Hollister cardigan for her birthday (take a torch - it's dark in there!) and a Disaster Designs bag for Christmas Tempted to buy myself one too

insanityscratching · 16/11/2011 09:56

Reddaisy trust me I am similarly out of touch but do have a daughter who is very communicative with her list of wants and have spent more time than I'd care to mention discussing the merit of what to me are identical handbags but apparently are not Grin

reddaisy · 16/11/2011 10:30

Whatevertheweather, Hollister is like a nightclub isn't it?! I can't decide between suggesting a Hollister voucher or a Topshop voucher for my DM to get her.

Insanity - I am currently deciding between two bags for her which DP will not even comment on, all I get is "whatever you think!". And Paul's Boutique is delivering for free at the moment which is good as it is one more thing to tick off the list.

Hollister is an strange place experience! My dn has been obsessed with them since she accepted that Jack Wills was too expensive Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/11/2011 17:36

Is it for your daughter? You will know her taste best, so PB's may be suitable. I've got 14 and 16 year old dds and they like neither PB's or Holllister and do like Topshop and Urban Outfitters, so it deffo depends on her taste.

DD1 is probably going to have a camera and some perfume as her main present.

DD2 wants a subscription to Kerrang and stuff to do with her guitar.

Ideas -

  • magazine subscription
  • straighteners or hairdryer with 'nice' hair stuff to go with (eg a 'posher' version than usual)
  • decent makeup mirror
  • Benefit or Mac makeup
  • we bought the dds a toasted sandwich maker one year, which has had a lot of use!
