DD is 11 and is madly keen on Monster High and Young Dracula stuff. We have bought her an iPod dock with speakers as well. She is also keen on Moshi Monsters.

Cheapest decent android phone I could find that could have the mobile internet easily switched off so it doesn't use all her meagre top up budget on data charges. Also a case for the phone so my DHs prophesy of "she doesn't need a nice phone, it'll only get broken' is less likely to occur.

Considering a £7 a month text, calls and data allowance sim for her birthday in Feb, but put off by stories of kids who have run up massive bills. May stay PAYG for now and buy her some top ups.

She's also into Dr Who so has been bought a magazine subscription.
DVDs and books make up the rest.

Bunbaker · 12/11/2011 22:35

2kidsintow I put DD on a contract when she started high school because she and her best friend text each other constantly. It is much cheaper than PAYG. Also, she catches a bus to school and I know that if something happens she can always contact me because she won't be out of credit.

Which phone did you get? DD has an Orange Barcelona and she loves it.

Just remembered that DD will want the latest Harry Potter DVD. She adores HP.

itunes credit.

We have got our (almost 12) DD a sewing machine and related stuff, flourescent knee high socks, jewellery making stuff (proper stuff though rather than a "kit" iyswim), a bracelet with her name on, few other bits and pieces of stocking fillers that I can't easily recall - make up, clothes, other girlie stuff for her room.....

oh yeah, alarm clock, Jessie J CD...........

cheesesarnie · 12/11/2011 23:20

her nan has got her a sewing machine, which was my only idea!
