i have parents who spend about £50 and my brother and sister each spend £20-30 on me for christmas. i am notoriously difficult to buy for as i never need anything. its not like i am loaded and have everything, just the opposite in fact, but i have no idea at all what i would like, and my family are getting pissed off with the same answer each year- "i dunno". i am buying myself a dsi and R4 card (from father christmas of course) i dont really listen to music, if i want a film i buy it, and same goes for books. none of them really get my taste in clothes so thats no good. i dont know what i want, please help, they are getting impatient.

A voucher for a lie in? I'm really wanting a lie in right now!

What a voucher for something pampering like a massage or manicure, or cinema or something? An experience rather than 'stuff'.

A nice canvas/bedspread/something housey?

I've been drooling in waterstones today, they had loads of really nice gift books. Nice editions from £20-£50, how about something like that that you wouldn't fork out for yourself but would keep and treasure?

morally- never heard of it!

whowho- dont have an OH to give me a lie in. do my own manicures, and cinema trips, dont need anything for the house except a new kettle and i will buy that next week. i have shelf upon shelf of books, i dont think i have room for any more (dont need to buy as i now have kindle app on my phone)

I know you don't have an OH cherry, I recalled seeing your name on LP threads. I don't have an OH either, hence me hankering after a lie in and thinking you would maybe like one too. Smile Twas meant to be tongue in cheek suggestion but obviously didn't come across that way over the WWW.

I do my own things too like cinema and manicures but they obv want to treat you and if these are things you enjoy then let them treat you to it! [bossy]

aaahhhhh!!!! now i get you. unfortuntely, my girls wont let me have a lie in (the boys would) but its not too much of an issue as i get one every sunday (the girls go to their dads for saturday night)

i think the main problem is, i like to have things to open, i went for so long when i was with the ex, not having a single present, so i prefer to have actual items, but never a clue what those items should be. [awkward]

My ex has somehow magically altered contact very gradually over a period of time so that I realised last weekend that I no longer have a lie in, at all, or a Friday or Saturday night, to you know - have a social life. Hmm [grumble grumble]

Anyway back to you. Grin

So... things to open.... have you been into town lately to peruse without the kids? If you can't do that peruse online. Write down everything you like the look of, anything and everything. Clothes, accessories, bath stuff, nice nail varnish, shoes, perfume, bits in hobbycraft, whatever floats your boat. Smile Then you can present them with a wish list of ideas and leave them to it!

ah, see thats the thing, i have no social life. all my social life (which generally involves my sister visiting, or spending the evening with my best friend) happens on a saturday when they are at their dads.

i always get bought bath stuff, and to be honest i never use it apart from the radox bubble bath my brother buys me each year (always on my request). this is the problem, i cant think of anything i want or even need. i have loads of clothes, shoes and handbags, tons of nail varnish, i make jewellery so dont need any of that. see the problem?

I'm getting the Bare Minerals starter make up kit and I'm very excited.

You sound as though you're interested in clothes and makeup even if you think you've got loads already. You'd get some great ideas if you posted this in Style & Beauty.

CherryMonster · 13/11/2011 23:31

i have tons of makeup and rarely wear it (with 4 kids a cat and a dog i dont get time in the mornings to put it on)

i am interested in clothes, and would love a nice new pair of slippers. that and a pretty white recipe book holder are the only things on my christmas list so far!
