Confused by playmobil!

What would be best for the first set for nearly 3 yr old DS?
There's too much choice!

My 3yo ds has recently been given a rescue plane and a speedboat for his birthday and loves them.

What is he interested in? Construction? Fire engines? Hospitals? They have sets that cover every interest going, so just pick something that you think he'll like. BTW there is always lots of good 2nd hand stuff for sale on ebay.

The camper van or recycling truck are often recommended as a good 'starter' set.

But I second 2cats, go with what he is already interested in.

DS got the recycling truck for his 4th birthday and loves it. I think it's quite good for younger children as it's more interactive, IYKWIM, filling up the bins, lots of moving bits etc. Some of the other sets rely on children's imagination a bit more.

The Nas Ark set is really old for smaller ones as there aren't too many tiny pieces nd he'll probably like the animals.

DS got the dolphin set and the children's zoo for his third birthday. Both popular but the dolphin set a particular hit.

I would agree, go with the sets which most match up with his interests. Then he is more likely to play with it.

I usually sniff out the Playmo threads in the end

We started with the police motorbike and helicopter.

Both of mine (DS 4 and DD 2) love the swimming pool and also the supermarket (discontinued, got off eBay). They both seem to prefer the 'real life' stuff over the fantasy stuff - we've also got pirate and knight stuff but not played with that much.

DS has asked for the hospital for Christmas (thank you, eBay!)

I am desperate to get the grande mansion but so expensive! Might get it for DDs birthday next year rather than a 'dolls house' so I can play with it

Ds is 2.5 and is getting the campervan and children's zoo for Christmas and a few small sets as stocking fillers. The campervan looks fab as it comes with loads of extras and can be stored as a full set and the children's zoo has loads if animals to play with.

Depends what he is interested in. My was never been too bothered about imaginative play at that age but loved the rescue helicopter

dd had the plane and airport at 3 and played with them for years.

The campervan is the only thing we have (inc ambulance, hospital, supermarket, house, farm) which she has never touched.
