love it but HATE the cover version - they should have had the Smiths version

redlac · 11/11/2011 14:44

loving the comments on YouTube though - comparing the advert to the film Se7en!

2blessed2bstressed · 11/11/2011 14:44

Oh sheesh! Hadn't seen it before, but now I'm blubbing too - although the Remembrance Day threads already had me quite sniffly Blush

DaisySteiner · 11/11/2011 14:47

Hmmm. I preferred last year's tbh.

headfairy · 11/11/2011 14:50

I think it's because the little boy looks a bit similar to ds... it's the big brown eyes. I'm a sucker for them!

Really?? THAT is what is making everyone cry?? Hmm

I must have a heart of stone or sommat.

belledechocchipcookie · 11/11/2011 14:58

(sniffs)

headfairy · 11/11/2011 14:59

Oh man.

Love it.

rhondajean · 11/11/2011 18:31

I want one of the little boys in a Gruffalo outfit for my Xmas!!

headfairy · 11/11/2011 19:52

I'm very tempted too Rhonda

Oh no I am sniffling. Would have been extraordinarily wonderful with the original version of the song....

mogs0 · 11/11/2011 20:17

Oh my goodness, has made me cry too Blush.

ShirleyKnot · 11/11/2011 20:22

I LOVE it. It's made me cry too! I think it's just a lovely sentiment and a brilliant antidote to that HORRIBLE Littlewoods advert.

headfairy · 11/11/2011 20:27

I know shirley that Littlewoods one is just so common. It's all about greed and gimme gimme gimme, JL is so much more in the spirit of Christmas

It's lovely. Just a little far-fetched. I mean, what excited little boy doesn't wake up until EIGHT o'clock on Christmas morning?

They obviously gave him Medised in his hot chocolate with his Christmas PJ's on on Christmas Eve.

ShirleyKnot · 11/11/2011 20:47

I liked the gentleness of it all as well, DYKWIM? It's not all up in your face SELL SELL SELL! It's subtle and...loving.

ShirleyKnot · 11/11/2011 20:47

Hahaha Taffeta!

Mammonite · 11/11/2011 20:56

I like it but I liked the 2009 one (Sweet Child of Mine) better.

LinusJ · 12/11/2011 00:12

I've been following the wave of Christmas adverts on Facebook and Twitter and I have to say I love the John Lewis advert - just so long as you keep the end scene of Se7en out of your head :) I think the best ad so far is that one - could watch that on a loop, always a sucker for a good snowglobe...

marssparklesdownonme · 12/11/2011 08:19

Bet M&S are delighted they chose Xfactor contestants for their ad. I'm sure Frankie is just the image they want to portray! Grin

KinkyDoritoWithJingleBellsOn · 12/11/2011 08:23

Nah, I agree they'd sedated him and that's why he didn't get up til 8am. He definitely needed it by Christmas Eve.
