Pressie for my mum!

My family does a secret santa thing - I have drawn my mother. I loathe buying my mum presents because she has everything and if she wants something she'll just buy it rather than wait and ask someone for it for xmas or birthday.
Budget is £30 - she is v. stylish (i'm not), in her 60's but more 40's in attitude. She has memberships of national trust, national gallery, english heritage, and local theatres etc. DD's will be giving her photo calendar. She has a digital photoframe. She's an avid reader but buys any books she wants. DH drew her last year and we brought her a scarf which she liked but obviously can't replicate. ARRGHHH HELP!!!

what about some nice candles?

oreocrumbs · 09/11/2011 21:29

Make her a hamper with nice pieces in - candle, bubble bath, biscuits, nail varnish - maybe something home made like jam or cakes if you are inclined, socks, all thing that she will most probably already have but won't do any harm to have more. And brownie points for it being something you have put together rather than just bought iyswim :)

voucher for massage/nails/pedicure, pehaps if a cheaper treatment in a basket of hand cream and nail varnish?

I second the hamper idea.
What about a relaxing night hamper with a Yankee Candle, DVD (a good chick flick or a classic), popcorn (microwave sweet one is great), box of chocolates and a nice bottle of wine?

Something that is expensive for what it is, eg a fancypants candle, lipstick, tweezers or something?

or a coffee table book about art/theatre/heritage?

some lovely gifts in budget at Liberty

Onlyaphase · 09/11/2011 22:09

I struggle with people who have everything as well!

What I tend to do now is get personalised presents from Not on the High Street - we got my PIL a wooden veg crate from there a couple of years ago when they were first really into their allotment and garden, and had "Produce of X's Garden" stamped on the side. I'm not suggesting your mother gets a garden crate for Christmas, but the site has lots of ideas, and a spot of humour or personalisation can make a present really nice.
