What sort of budget are you thinking of? What is she interested in?

I would say that 5 is a good age for Playmobil eg a Playmobil house - there are several on the market.

She might also like a Maxi scooter - it, like the Playmobil, will last for years. They are £££ though so it depends upon the budget.

Sylvanian also comes in around that age. Again there is a huge range so it should suit most budgets.

My dd loves ponies (she is 10 now but has done for years) and loves the Schleich horses and the equipment to go with it.

My dniece is 6 and loves pinypom (think that is what they are called) La La Loopsy, Playmobil, Sylvanian, her ds (not a 3d one for such a young one though), craft, Pony/Jungle/Ocean in my pocket, the mini my little ponies... I will keep thinking.

I'd also go for Playmobil. A lot of girls that age also like Sylvanian families and Polly Pocket.

I would avoid the "must-have" items, as they tend to be stuff that's "in" this year, but will be forgotten about by next year.

My youngest DS will be 5 in December and he's getting a dinosaur suit Grin so I can take pictures to bring out at his 18th and a suit of robot armour. Not sure if your DD would want to be a dinosaur or a robot though!
For his stocking fillers he's getting a TY beanie ball, the ladybird one, and the Brainbox ABC. All three of my LO are getting a beanie ball and a Brainbox.

lalaloopsy dolls, sylvanian families, build a bear and outfit, disney dvd's, all my dd's would love the whole of the disney store, their little eyes light up when they walk in, could spend a furtune in there Grin my dd who is 7 soon has got the whole set of the soft princesses for xmas, she already has the mermaid and loves her and has asked for the others, i much prefer them to the barbie type princesses who don't look good after a few weeks of being played with.

I have just thought that, depending on the child, she might also like Lego. Most of the specific sets are quite boy orientated but the City stuff might still appeal. There are also house building sets and the Belville range, aimed at girls. Mine always liked a big lego board and just a box of pieces though, so they could make their own things. belville
