Octoalert! Has anyone noticed that they are only selling Kwazi and Barnacles this Christmas ready to rip you off in the new year? The CBeebies magazines / free figures are going for upwards of £20 on ebay. Wow am I wishing I'd bough the Cbeebies special issue now .....

yes, I had a look around and noticed that a) not all the characters were available and b) it was very over priced.

Octonaut addict DS has an Octonauts jigsaw instead, he doesn't know the toys are available and will have grown out of it by next Xmas Grin.

suzikettles · 08/11/2011 20:25

I know - it's really irritating. Ds is getting the Octopod for Christmas and my mum is buying him one of the Gups, but all the smaller sets come with either Barnacles or Kwazii so we'll end up with 2 of the same.

Grrr.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 20:33

Who comes with the octopod then? Ds Is getting it from his grandma, we have 4 figures that were free with cebeebies comic but they're quite small.

Why do companies do this, its cruel!

Tiggles · 08/11/2011 20:47

Barnacles comes with the Octopod.

I got the Octopod on offer from Toys R Us, and one of the others 'free' when Argos were doing 3 for the price of 2. Boots are doing lots of the range at the moment on 3 for the price of 2.

Disappointed about the lack of other figures though :(

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 08/11/2011 20:50

Oh, I thought being the 'biggest' set you'd get atleast two! Seems the ripping of parents scam grows bigger every year!

Penthesileia · 08/11/2011 20:53

All I can think about are the poor Vegimals: a genetically modified slave-class, half-vegetable, half-animal, bred to serve the alpha-creatures, the Octonauts. Sad It is a gruesome display of caste.

Plus, none of the toy-sets seem to feature gay icon Captain Barnacles' accordion or lederhosen.

Grin

My 4 year old got them in the summer and although it is very annoying having just the two figures (although we did get the cbeebies magazine so have those - interestingly he hasn't bothered with those since we got the octopod) he has played with them so much and all the gups are bath proof which is fab! Roll on more figures................maybe i should sell my cbeebies ones Grin

Penthesileia · 08/11/2011 21:04

My DD has the Gup-A, but she has renounced huge, mutant Barnacles in favour of the quartet of better proportioned CBeebies figurines... Giant Barnacles sits on a shelf, plotting revenge (or dreaming of naked hiking the Alps. Or something.).

maxybrown · 08/11/2011 21:09

Hmm, our cbeebies ones are sat in the box unplayed with for months........hmmm

helpmabob · 08/11/2011 21:14

My little one keeps asking me for Peso, it hacks me off no end that they have only made 2 of the f**king characters but I am not spending 20 quid on plastic comic ones from ebay. Very very annoying

WhatWouldLeoDo · 08/11/2011 21:20

There's a peso toys creature pack showing on Amazon is unavailable, so I've got my fingers crossed that it'll be released before Christmas. They'd be foolish not to!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 08/11/2011 21:25

My DS1 is desperate for a Peso having seen him on the back of the sodding box. Of course aged 3 he doesn't understand that it can't be bought yet!

We have got both the gups, but have decided against getting the Octopod because he has so much other stuff.

PorkChopSter · 08/11/2011 21:31

We have 3 Barnacles and 3 Kwazii. FFS.

PoppyWearer · 09/11/2011 19:05

You think Octonauts are bad?

Don't even get me started on Raa Raa...limited merchandise until February (what idiot thought THAT was a good idea?!) and what is available is going for a fortune on eBay. Seems that some industry insider people who've got advance copies of the toys are cashing in. Angry

Even the fecking knitting pattern for a knit-your-own Raa Raa from Women's Own or Women's Weekly (don't quote me) is subject to a bidding frenzy.

We want Raa Raa toys!

Sorry for the hijack! BTW I searched high and low for the Octonauts CBeebies comic when it came out...gutted we missed it but NOT paying that much on eBay.

MrsKwazii · 09/11/2011 19:07

You can never have too much Kwazii Wink

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 11/11/2011 18:18

We had this issue last year, wanting octonaughts, none available until new year, then year before that chugginton!

I hate cebeebies.

God love dds easily catered for peppa obsession
