DD is really into decorating the house for occasions - usually making her own posters and decorations. I think she would love to make a garland for Christmas to hang o nthe front door, but would be keen to buy some sort of kit, rather than try by ourselves. Does anyone know of somewhere I could get one? ( preferably internet as we are not in UK, but my mum could post over)

I have no idea, never seen anything like it! How old is your dd?

Depending on her age, it might be ok to have a go yourself... maybe try a fabric or paper one though? I did a 'traditional' type one last year, and my hands were quite badly scratched with all the pine/holly/wire!

Love the idea - I'm thinking of making a fabric rag one with ds's if I can find some instructions

I always start here www.hobbycraft.co.uk/Pages/Ideas/Search.aspx?Craft=4&Occasion=2

I was going to suggest Hobbycraft too - not necessarily a kit, but they sell the basic shapes and lots of bits and pieces you can add to them. It might be nice to go out for a walk and forage for pine cones etc too, then paint/decorate them and add them to the whole thing.

not a kit I know but another idea? www.craftbits.com/project/wreath-fabric-swatch

Do you mean a wreath, a circle of foliage? For a 5 yr old that would be quite hard to make a traditional one using fresh foliage, and take a long time which would probably bore her.

What you could do is buy a woven willow circle, and wind long ivy trails around it. Tie on pine cones or baubles, and finish with a bow. If no fresh ivy where you are you could do the same with artificial.

Where are you, and what have you got that you could use locally?

Not sure that this is quite what you had in mind, more to decorate her room maybe! Foam wreath set:

They have lots of other easy craft kit type stuff. I got some Halloween kits from them and it managed to keep my nearly 8yo, 5yo AND 2.5yo quiet for a bit so I recommend them!

brilliant ideas, thank you. I will definitely order the foam kit as she can easily do that herself, but may try an autumn one for the door, as per the kinks. We have access to some lovely woods and could find some nice things there I think.
