Playmobil pyramid - to build or not to build?

For 5 year old DD, not renowned for her patience. Should I put it together and wrap it up ready to play? or leave it in the box for us to put together onChristmas morning?

I would have a look at the instruction booklet first, and see how complicated it is to put together (we don't have the pyramid, so I don't have first hand experience of this set). If it looks fairly complicated, then as she is quite young, I would pre-assemble it. If she was about 8 or 9, then probably not, as a lot of fun at that age is in the construction. If it looks relatively simple, then leave it to assemble on Christmas Day.

I would pre-assemble. For DD's 4th birthday we got her the playmobil circus and put it together on the day, it was a nightmare of fiddly little bits getting mixed up with the sellotape and wrapping paper. For her 5th birthday she got the playmobil house (we are v. imaginative with presents) and put it together the night before and just wrapped it up. She was really happy to be able to play with it straight away and it meant we could have a cuppa and watch her play with her presents rather than spending the whole morning putting them together.

DEFINITELY put it together beforehand!

DS got one for his recent birthday and it took DH a good long while to assemble it and put on the stickers.

Tis very gorgeous tho!

DEF build beforehand. Xx

Another vote for 'beforehand', i have made the mistake several times and spent most of christmas day and boxing day building playmobil. This year its lego i shall be building with help from dd1 Sad.

I obviously love building Playmobil far too much Blush!

Preassemble, wrap up the emty box.

dc open box and are amazed, then ta dah! tem nimutes later you have draggethe pre-built thing out from somewhere and dc crack on with playing!

It took dh from 9.30 pm til 2.am to nearly build the school. I spent over a hour and half finishing the furniture and stickers.

When cs are older they can build but at 5, pre build!

I'm thinking if buying the pyramid just for me, no kids allowed!! Definitely pre build!

BurningBright · 08/11/2011 09:08

OK. Pre build it is.

Thank you!
