Am planning on sending several gifts overseas but am unsure what to buy.

I would like to send something which would be considered English or relate to the UK in some way.

I am buying for:

  • 6 year old girl
  • 4 year old girl
  • 4 year old boy

Many thanks

Olympics stuff? Traditional sweets? Double decker bus for 4 year old boy?

Ladybird books for the younger ones? You can still get Peter and Jane reading scheme ones which are both educational and retro Grin.

Wooden skittles dressed as those soldiers who guard the Queen - they are more child friendly than the sound, and I've seen them everywhere.

Fudge, or sticks of seaside rock?

Toy cricket set?
"proper" old fashioned sweeties - there are lots of sites that do them online (and may even deliver direct) if you don't have a proper sweet shop anywhere nearby.
Enid Blyton books? The 6 yr old might enjoy Secret Seven or Five Find Outers, or there are the bedtime story type ones with the lots of little stories in, she wrote hundreds and most of them are still readily available.

If you want toys, how about a BA plane, London toy, a set of British vehicles, a tube train, a London cab or a London bus.

Or you could send a game like Monopoly or a London jigsaw.

Or what about books? This one is a lift the flap book, this is a colouring book.

Everything I can think of is a big London-centric, I'm afraid.

Things I've sent that have gone down ok:
pencil cases/pencils/rubbers etc in post box/double decker,
toys as above,

books -katie morag visits london or madeleine in London, winnie the pooh, paddington, or an illustrated christmas carol (quite demanding for the 6 year old, but you can get them with lovely pictures), the tiger who came to tea (which you can get with a tea set)
games or jigsaw based around the united kingdom
a bear that looks like a policeman (the met police have a very sweet one.. in policeman's sweater as well as helmet)
little spoons with pictures of eg buckingham palace/taxis/the union jack on them
