i have 2 dds who are nearly 4 and 2.5. I a, really struggling for ideas for my dd2. It's mainly ideas for bil and gp's. I know it's not hard to find gifts for a toddler but she plays with all dd1 toys so we have loads of role play toys that she loves. We have lots of little people and far too many dolls and things. Live in a 2 bed flat so space is also an issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.

fancy dress? DD age 4 uses DD age 6 but prefers some other characters so i get her different ones. Plus is she not into anything specific e.g mine love disney princess and new stuff come out each year to add to the current ranges?

Hello kitty mega blocks
Argos do a colour in your own play house? I got this for dds to share!
camera
book sets
clarks vouchers?!!!

its hard for littler ones, especially if same gender (I have 3 boys and struggle for ds3) is there anything you really wanted to buy for dd1 but reined yourself in but could justify now??
can't go wrong with books imo, puzzles or board games? especially ones they can grow into - Orchard Toys do some lovely ones from 2/3 years
Anything for room? kit bag for nursery?
Craft stuff - we get through loads of stuff - paint, pens and paper, Hama maxi beads (asked for these for ds3 but he does use Hama beads too) mini white board, aqua draw (travel version if you have a big one - I find these useful for ds3 when he has to watch other 2 at swimming lessons as are lacing cards and matching pairs games)

Something small and tickets to go to Legoland/Chessington/a zoo/farm park (GPs could take her?).

Small present could be relevant like Duplo, small cuddly animal.

Ds2 who is 2 .5 has been getting into Lego Duplo recently. Got a load of the stuff from a charity shop and was hoping to keep it hidden until Christmas but big brother found it.
He hasn't stopped plating with it since we've had it.

If she likes role play, elc 'velcro' pizza is fab. You can cut it up, change toppings etc, also the cake, dd is having the peppa pig version of the cake, comes with a tea set and singing candles for under £10 on amazon

pud1 · 08/11/2011 20:32

Thanks for the ideas. Will get googling. Velcro pizza sounds like it will keep her amused for a while

Think its real name is cut and play pizza, I have to confess I --play with it too-- think its pretty cool

Dressing up stuff - go my DD a doctors outfit and case of 'medical instruments' at similar age last year
Lego Duplo or Megablocks
Fuzzy felt
Super scribbler
Kids easel/ art centre
Play shop/till/bag/food
Childres musical instruments

What about a hobby horse? My 2 year old just got one, she loves it and it doesn't take up any room. Her favourite things just now are horses and Minnie Mouse so I'm finding her really easy to buy for this year. She has a christmas sack and I'm filling it with lots of character things like hat and gloves set, books, wellies, dressing gown, slippers etc, sounds a bit boring but because its Minnie she'll love it and it's things she'll use anyway.

I really like the peppa pig tea set with singing candles that was mentioned, I've been trying to think of things I can get my friends dd and as she loves peppa I think this will be perfect :)

My girls have all loved a rocking horse at some stage, if you have the room.

Dd3 who is 2 and a half is having a doll and accessories for her main present but I've also got her a xylophone from Hamley's and some Peppa Pig fuzzy felts.

Medical set
Blackboard
Large cardboard boxes (maybe a bit big for your flat though they can be folded up and packed away neatly)
Tea set
Wooden blocks and box to keep them in

DD2 (2.6 by christmas) is getting;

  • snakes and ladders
  • picture lotto
  • a couple of jigsaws
  • small apron and baking set (Sainsburys)
  • a magic wand (she's obsessed with turning people into frogs Confused)
  • foam dressing up dolly set for the bath
  • some stocking fillers - books, pens and paper, sweets, t-shirts, socks etc.
