Where do you hide your DCs Christmas presents?

My wardrobe is becoming full. I have 3 DC under 6 who, fortunately, are not remotely interested in the contents of my wardrobe and believe firmly in Father Christmas.
I am running out of space and need some fresh ideas. Please tell me where you hide Christmas presents in your house.

I won't tell, honest. Grin

On top of wardrobes, in the loft, in suitcases, or (particularly for large things) at Granny's house.

TheElvesSawBatgirlKissingSanta · 06/11/2011 20:59

Dvds go nicely on top of kitchen cabinets..as do books!
I hide alot of ds pressies in his room, ontop of his wardrobe, disguised in bags! Grin They would never look there.

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 06/11/2011 21:00

In the cellar! They are far too spooked by the cellar to go down there.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/11/2011 21:00

In our canoe which is suspended from the beams in the garage!

We don't do any much canoeing when it's cold!

thenightsky · 06/11/2011 21:02

lockable half empty filing cabinet in my office at work. I can do my wrapping in peace there too.

NevilleBarnes · 06/11/2011 21:08

Love the canoe! We have no cellar but the loft is a good idea...

Ds's my 1st scalextric came from play.com in the most enormous box ever, so I've just put the rest of his presents in there and they fill it perfectly :) and ive put it on top of our wardrobe. No idea why they felt the need to send such a huge box for a medium sized toy but I did enjoy the giant bubble wrap they put in there too :)

Beauregard · 06/11/2011 21:24

At my parents house

attheendoftheday · 06/11/2011 21:24

In a plastic box in the loft. I sometimes go up there to look in pride at my stash.

budgieshell · 06/11/2011 21:31

In the attick, in the boot of the car (this one is because I forget they are there or the DD's are with me so they get left till a later date).
On top of their own wardrobes, back of my wardrobe.

Big problem is remembering all the places or do what I do and find little presents months after christmas.

pramsgalore · 06/11/2011 21:31

in bin bags on top of wardrobes, under my bed again in binbags. in the pantry for small items ie dvds, sweeties behind the tins in kichen cupboard, really large items, i have just left in my bedroom in the corner in binbags and put some ironing on top, they never asked once what it was [i always have plenty of ironing around] Grin

LordOfTheFlies · 06/11/2011 21:33

In my wardrobe and on the top.
DD's Sylvanian Family Regency Hotel in in a large box with an Argos bag over it. I told DD it's something for DH's computer. She hasn't looked further Wink

laughinglil · 06/11/2011 21:34

I send mine off to Father Christmas. No need to hide them then! haha! No seriously we hide ours in the Caravan and down the Cellar. We are seriously screwed if the Caravan gets stolen or broken into!

NevilleBarnes · 06/11/2011 21:40

I can't reach the top of the wardrobe. Unless I drag a chair upstairs. That could be a plan...

In the drawers under my divan bed. Have always had a valance on it so they have never known they exist; they're teenagers plus now Grin

Anything larger went in a black bag in the cupboard under the stairs with all the other black bags

RomanKindle · 06/11/2011 22:17

Lockable cupboard, boot of car and flat things on the tops of cupboards. Running out of space though - might have to venture into the attic.

Carpediem2007 · 06/11/2011 22:23

On top of shelves in large bin bags in the garage, above anything that DS (4) can see and away from the ladder.
some stashed in cupboards in guest room and in my office but I forget about these so need to put them all in one place.

I started a list to remember all the gifts that I have bought and where they are, it's a bit of a treasure hunt map now

BarryStar · 06/11/2011 22:32

I used to hide things in the boot of the car, until one christmas the car got stolen on evening of 23 Dec. When we realised it had been nicked, I was gutted, but DH saved the day by running round and buying as much as he could (mostly sweets), and explaining to the dc that the Grinch had been so they hadn't got everything they had asked Father Christmas for.

Then I started using what I thought was a foolproof hiding place - in sitting room some of the floorboards had been cut by a previous owner so that you could remove about a four foot section of them. Then there was access to the sub-floor space so everything went down there in bin bags, til the little buggers found that.

Now I mostly hide stuff in the garage in a chest freezer which I keep locked (and which doesn't work).

lillybloom · 06/11/2011 22:43

our suitcases live in the spare room all year round so I stash them all in there. DC never bother with them as they think they are empty.

jester68 · 07/11/2011 08:59

We are lucky as we have a huge cupboard in our hallway that we have filled with the bulk of the bigger toys. Children can't get in there as we store things in front of the door so it can't be opened unless we move it all out.

The rest is upstairs in our wardrobe with clothes covering it plus all in black bags. If we need more space then we can use the upstairs cupboard and even suitcases

ChooChooWowWow · 07/11/2011 11:14

Since we had our loft converted hiding presents is a nightmare.

So far I have presents in:
My Christmas cupboard
My Christmas drawer
Books are hidden under my jumpers in my wardrobe
Couple of big things are at my mums house under her table
In the summer holiday suitcases
In our lock up 6 miles away
DDs (23) wardrobe
Behind the large dresser in our room
There is even a box behind DD (4) wardrobe

Luckily my dc don't go hunting because some things are really obvious.
I have to write down where I put everything so I don't forget.

tryingtofigureitout · 07/11/2011 11:49

in laws garage.
but im getting worried cause theyve just casually mentioned that they have mice in their garage!!??
wont be hiding the stocking treats in there then!
and lets hope cardboard isnt chewed through when dd opens dolls house.
i can just picture it now "look mummy, real little mice in this house!

myBOYSareBONKERS · 07/11/2011 12:00

under the spare room bed.

so important to put them out of sight - loft is a good one - as a colleague was burgled on the the 23rd dec and they took the lot

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 07/11/2011 12:03

In the loft.

notso · 07/11/2011 12:03

Suitcases and in the wardrobes, sometimes things at my Mums.
We did keep stuff in the cellar until a mahoosive spider infiltrated DD's present sack and turned Christmas morning into a screaming nightmare!
