Good Santa in/near Edinburgh?

Can anyone recommend the best Santa to go to in or near Edinburgh?

The last few years we've gone to Jenners but it is increasingly rubbish with a crap Santa, crap toy, long queue and costs a fortune.

We are willing to drive out of Edinburgh and make a day of it, so distance not a huge issue but preferably not too many miles away!

Any suggestions?

We went to East Links country park last year. The snow was knee high and we were one of only two families daft enough to brave the weather and go. We did enjoy it, but the snow did mean that we couldn't access a few attractions in the park. The Santa experience was good though and we saw the animals etc.

We are going to try the Deer Centre at Cupar this year. Has been highly recommened by lots of people but we've never been before. They don't do bookings so it is first come first served. Dobbies garden centre at the butterfly farm is supposed to be good too. We did Dobbies in Dunfermline last year and it was ok. Not special or exciting, just ok.

We did the Falkirk Wheel Santa trip 2 years ago, it was great. Ratho barge have a similar one but haven't tried it yet. Almond Valley is good too, they usually have some Christmas activities going on. Also, Boness Steam Railway do Santa specials but they book up quickly.

That Falkirk Wheel one looks good, I may try that this year!

Also, for interested near Edinburgh people, I see that Dalkeith Country Park is having a Christmas Fair at the end of this month. Might be worth a trip.
