Leap-pad/tablet thingies for younger children. Vtech? Nintendo?

I don't know one end of an i-pad from another and these things are a mystery to me too. If DD (5 but quite computer literate) was to get one, which would be best? Are there any good deals with games or programmes?

She's seen an advert for the tablet-style one and likes the idea of it - I think that's the Explorer one?

Any advice much appreciated .

My DD is 3yo and loves the iPad itself. More expensive, but at least then you can use it too.

You can buy screen protectors and cases to make it child-proof (more or less). Do you have an iPhone and does she play with that? If so, it's basically a larger version of the same thing. Lots of apps available, books, music, TV programmes, films.

Nope. My phone makes phone calls and I have a laptop for work and MN. not even an ipod or MP3 player.

I will check out the prices...

All the kiddie versions are very hard to get hold of Sue. There are several threads on here & on MSE debating their relative merits.

I shall search thanks J, when I can narrow down the names i need to search with . I am thinking the Vtech one looks most likely and seems to be in stock online so praps that'll help decide......
