Am being a bit disingenuous because I haven't thought of much for my 7 year old ds yet. So far I've got him a Star Wars 2012 calendar (he is always asking how many days until Christmas / his birthday / next holiday / school holidays etc) and a lego kit. Am pondering if there are any decent new Wii games out.....

What about you?

Mine is 7 in a few days. He really wants a metal detector and a telescope.

Marne · 04/11/2011 13:02

My dd1 (tom boy) wants Lego ninjago and bakugan, oh and the new 'diary of a wimpy kid' book.

Carrotsandcelery · 04/11/2011 13:52

My ds has recently turned 7 so I can share the (extensive) list of things which were a big hit if that helps anyone.

Skylanders wii starter kit - HUGE hit
Mario mini figure toys - HUGE hit (he actually hugged his big sister) Shock
Club penguin puffle - also hugged big sister
Playmobil Top Agents sets - now he wants them all
Moshlings (tiny plastic characters you can collect)
Lego games, inc Heroica set
Play doh smashed potato game - 10 yo dd also having a ball with this one
Ben 10 characters that come to pieces and can be mixed up with other characters.
Mario Dressing up costume
Phineas & Ferb dressing up outfit
Dick King Smith books
Battery operated fork which twists spaghetti for you (ate v well last night)
Morbs (desperately wanted but not such good toys really)
Drawing stuff (pad and really nice pens and pencil sets) - he is v artistic
Rio dvd
Fossil excavation kits
Sticker book
Drawing book
Lego creator sets
Amazon vouchers
Toymaster vouchers
Cash

This is everything he received and I can honestly say he likes it all. The Morbs were the most wanted and the biggest disappointment. Everything else is proving brilliant.

There is also a Disney Universe game out for the wii (think it was 28th Oct) which looks great for this age group and a newer Phineas and Ferb game. Ds doesn't have them but I think they would have gone down well.

I am interested to see what others suggest as, after he has been given all that lot, I can't see that he needs anything for ages Shock

hmc · 04/11/2011 13:57

Oh lovely long list there.

I forgot to say have ordered Beast Quest series 2 books for Christmas after ds enjoyed Beast Quest series 1, and on the book theme, - we've already got these - Oliver Moon series, Astrosaurs series and Dinosaur Cove series but are recommending them if anyone else hasn't. Didn't know you could get Mario mini figure toys - sound great for the stocking.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 04/11/2011 14:04

I second the Astrosaurs series as being popular with that age. My ds also loves Captain Underpants. It is drivel but a great laugh and anything that makes them want to read is a good thing.

Carrotsandcelery · 04/11/2011 14:06

I got the mario mini figures from ebay. There are loads of different deals. Ds loves anything little like that and has had a ball with them. Be careful of postage as in some cases it is crazy.

notso · 04/11/2011 14:28

Can't be much help as this is my 7 year old DS1's Christmas List as written by him,
Lego, Lego, Lego, Lego any sets will do but not girly, money towards the Lego Death Star, a Wii or DS game.

Have ordered him Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts, and two Star Wars lego sets. His stocking fillers are so far, glow in the dark planets, a lego history book and some stationary. I will probably order him that Lego Star Wars DVD that is coming out.
My Parents, Grandpa and Sister are clubbing together to give him the last £70 he needs to buy the Death Star, he will be over the moon, he has been saving for 18 months.

Carrotsandcelery · 04/11/2011 14:33

notso I am very impressed by your ds's determination. That is a long time for a child that age.

notso · 07/11/2011 11:48

Just popped in to say thanks to Carrotsandcelery for the mario figures idea, have ordered some for DS1 and my cousin.
I too am impressed at his saving he certainly does not get his willpower from me!

Smugfearnleyshittingstool · 07/11/2011 12:15

One build your own robot is winging its way to us right now hopefully for ds, and a build your own body kit for dd which she will love

iloveblue · 08/11/2011 10:55

My DS turned 7 in October

So far have got him:
Mr Gum set of books (£9.99 from TheBookPeople currently)

  • some other books (he is an avid reader) Electronic light saber An enviro-botz kit like the one linked to above

Will also get him a board game, a lego set, a couple of figures, DVD and stocking fillers

I've also just bought the ELC Tower of Doom as a joint present for him and DS2(5) - possibly will be from Granny and Grandad.
Its been reduced from £80 to £60 and then with 20% code (TOYS) is £48!! Too much of a good bargain to refuse. I thought he might be too old for it but we saw it in the shop a few weeks ago and they both loved it.

HTH

Carrotsandcelery · 08/11/2011 13:36

So far ds will be getting (not all from us):

Luigi soft toy (ebay)

Trying to remember what else.

He will also get:

a ds/wii game
a dvd
big gingerbread man - if John Lewis do them this year
chocolate coins

Carrotsandcelery · 08/11/2011 13:39

Oh and a shark attack board game and a Heroica Lego game to add to his set.

It's a lot when you put it all together Shock

OriginalPoster · 08/11/2011 13:42

The new David Walliams book 'gangsta granny'.

fuzzywuzzy · 08/11/2011 13:48

Ben Ten Watch
doctor who figures and the tardis (for when he was crazy about Dr Who)

Can't remember any more.

greengoose · 08/11/2011 13:51

When my ds was seven he got,
Quadrilla (just amazing, we all love it)
a skim board
climbing harness
a proper woodwork bench and an antique tool box
a 'moon in my room'
lego
magnetix
a jelly bean machine
a printers tray to store his fossils in.

CharlieBoo · 08/11/2011 20:41

Iloveblue... You won't go wrong with the tower of doom. My ds had it last Xmas and was his fave pressie. We also got it mega cheap. Is a big hit too when his friends come over. He is just over 6 and a half and so far I've bought...

-playmobil top agents head quarters and the car to go with
-army dress up
-hm armed forces tank and figure (mil got him these)
-one of those hamster things
-matchAttax
-Go cart
-art and craft stuff.. He loves drawing

That's about it... It gets harder every year! I have a dd too and she is so easy go buy for in comparison!
