Construction toys for 3 yo - meccano lite?

I want to get my 3 yo some sort of construction toy for Christmas. We don't have any duplo so I might scour eBay for that, but I was wondering if there is some sort of meccano lite thing around for preschoolers. Any ideas?

Mobilo is fantastic, and will last years. My nine year olds still play with it.

The ELC Build it range is from 3 years, similar to meccano but easier for little hands.
