What do you think of these playmobil for DNs?

DS is just one, so I'm not sure of older toys yet.

DNiece 18m - Playmobil 123 Noah's ark

DNiece 3 - Playmobil clinic

DNephew 4 - Recycling truck

I feel about guilty though. They're on 3for2 in Boots and the clinic is half price, which is why I can afford it, but it means she gets something much bigger than her brother.

Can children share playmo? Should I get it between them and then get them a book each or something?

TIA! :)

Depends on the child, but ds got some playmobile for his 3rd birthday and it was really still too old for him. The pieces are really, really tiny. If your neice is nearly 4 then maybe, but otherwise I'd be tempted to think again.

ImpYCelyn · 01/11/2011 10:35

She's played with her brother's before, and I know DSIL took away some of the tiny bits, so I think it should be OK. But I might have a look and see what else they have.

Thanks!

The noahs ark has bigger pieces. I have a 5yo and a 2yo- they play together with playmobil, we have the ark, the vets clinic, the campervan. Its great, but I put the teeny pieces away until thwyre older.

stealthsquiggle · 01/11/2011 10:42

But the rubbish recycling truck is the coolest thing (declaration: I may be biased. The bin men are the top of the PM social heap in our house) so that's OK Grin.

I wouldn't worry too much about suitability, TBH - DS got the rubbish recycling truck for his 2nd birthday, although I did confiscate some bits, but then he was never a child inclined to put things in his mouth and I did have a few scary moments with friends who were.

I think they need specific ownership, and I think they are too small to worry about who got the "biggest" present, so I would go with it. I am sure the bin men will have cause to visit the clinic at some point.

ImpYCelyn · 01/11/2011 10:50

That's good to hear CaptainNancy.

I'd heard everyone on here raving about the recycling truck which is why I'm going to get it. Do you think it's cooler than the 4X4 and 2 quad bikes set here

I really hope they can't judge the sizes. But DNephew's birthday is in March and I'm trying to find a nice pirate ship on ebay for that (DSIL approves, before anyone worries that I'm fobbing them off with 2nd hand stuff).

Thanks all :)

It's all your fault, OP.

DGodDaughter is now getting the 123 Noah's Ark, DNiece the apple picking set and someone is getting a beach compact set - I definitely had someone in mind when I chose it Blush.

ImpYCelyn · 01/11/2011 13:46

Sorry Stealth :o

I loved the look of the apple picking set - DNiece would have got that if I hadn't been suckered by the -50% on the clinic Blush

But it is a very good deal to get playmo 3for2!

The family camper looks fab, I'd like to get that for me

If DD was just a little more interested I would have got her the clinic, but I need to see her playing with the stuff which DS has passed on a bit more first, I think.

ImpYCelyn · 01/11/2011 15:18

Hopefully she'll come round, and then you can indulge some more!

We got DS the ark for his first birthday and he loves it.

DD really wanted the huge hospital but that wasn't going to happen so we planned on getting her the clinic instead. However, we were getting a bit concerned that she would feel like she was being fobbed off with the clinic when she had specifically asked for the hospital iyswim, so went for the motor home instead. She hasn't had it yet (birthday is in 10 days) but it looks really good.

DH and I are really getting into playmobil :o

thatboysmum · 01/11/2011 15:57

My DS is 4 and has had the playmobil fire engine, fire station, lifeguard boat and garage sets. I think he was too young for all of these and am thinking of putting them all back together again (as he's taken them apart) and put them away for when he's older. I think playmobil is great and lasts forever (if looked after). My DS does play with his sometimes but doesn't take care of them the way I would like, there are so many little pieces that can go missing.
If you do decide to get them, my advice would be to assemble them before giving as all the ones we've had have taken absolutely ages to put together leaving very impatient/bored/unhappy children and rather snappy adults!

ImpYCelyn · 01/11/2011 16:15

Yes, I'm planning to open them up, put them together and also bag up all the small pieces to save DSIL the hassle. She can then keep them safe until they're older.

I'm really looking forward to it Blush

DS is getting some 123 from PILs at Christmas, I'm hoping it will be the start of many years of playmo love for us all.

Tesco has the playmobil pirate ship half price, so it's £25 at the moment

Playmobil Pirate Ship

PromiseFalls · 01/11/2011 18:33

Sorry just noticed it's out of stock online, but they have still got some in the stores, I bought one in my local tesco today.

ImpYCelyn · 02/11/2011 19:41

My Their playmobil just arrived! Amazingly quick!

DS will be 9mo and I've got him the 123 Noah's Ark. I keep getting it off the wardrobe to look at.

Toys R Us has the big Playmobil Noah's Ark for age 4+ half price at £40 and I was sorely tempted as it was so great. Then I thought about him choking on teeny weeny plastic olive branches and reined myself in.

stealthsquiggle · 02/11/2011 20:05

SO has mine ours arrived - 123 Noah's Ark looks pretty good to me - DGodDaughter will love it, I think/hope. I really must remember who the beach set was supposed to be for, though Blush

ImpYCelyn · 02/11/2011 20:09

Oh good stealth! Perhaps you can put the beach set in your own stocking if no one else comes to mind :o

Prima - I have the big Noah's Ark on top of the wardrobe for when DS seems big enough for it. A local toy shop had it reduced to £30 - while I was in there grabbing it two more people came in to ask for it. Sadly there was just the one, and I felt very smug Blush

I particularly love that in one of the doll's house sets there's a teeny tiny Noah's Ark + animals for the playmo children to play with

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 02/11/2011 20:15

There is a whole range of playmobil for playmobil people to play with, including a house - DS has a couple of sets and I love those way more than he does Blush

moragbellingham · 02/11/2011 20:38

The clinic is only £35 in John Lewis full price (Boots are having a laugh) so don't feel bad about buying that!
I was contemplating buying it but got Sylvanians instead.

ImpYCelyn · 02/11/2011 22:23

Stealth - that is amazing! I might have to get it for me - it would look so sweet on my desk Blush

Oh great, morag. I've just been sat here putting the pieces together (I was too excited to wait) and feeling guilty that Nephew might feel hard done by, but I feel less bad now :)

stealthsquiggle · 02/11/2011 22:30

Maybe FC could be persuaded to put mini playmobil in your stocking and one of these in DS's?

ImpYCelyn · 02/11/2011 22:32

Oh too cute, FC could definitely be persuaded I think!
