Introducing DS 3.3 to Father Christmas

I am unsure about the best way to tell DS 3.3 about Father Christmas and the whole present bringing thing. He was too young last year to get it so I want to make this year really exciting and fun.

what did you do to introduce the idea of FC? Story at bedtime? Just dropping into conversation? Wait till they ask

I am sure it will come up soon enough - does he go to nursery or pre-school? There will be no escaping it IMO.

Can't recall what we did, just he brings all the pressies anyway and we took the kids to see one in December.

Lots of great FC ideas on MN if you search - snowy footprints etc.

Thanks for reply Clary

Yes he goes to pre school. Just asked him who Father Christmas was and he said he brings me toys!!

I have never told him this so its coming from somewhere Smile

I supposed I was thinking along the lines of a good book/website etc.. to sit with him and talk about it.

I am really looking forward to this year, we've had a rough few years as a family but things have really settled down so hoping for a lovely time all together.

Might be over thinking it somewhat Wink

If you ever so much as glance at Cbeebies over the next couple of months, don't worry, your work will be done.

Or you could try one of the commercial channels if you REALLY want him to get it.

Have a look in the library or splash out on some lovely Christmas books.

iskra · 30/10/2011 08:08

Twas the night before Christmas?

oldraver · 30/10/2011 12:57

I cant remember how we introduced the idea but have idea like previously posted that pre-school and C-Beebies played a part.

We have Farmyard Tales Christmas Book, Dr Santa, Which are good books in the run up to Christmas. There are also a couple of Usbourne books which explain the whole North Pole/Santa thing. Another one DS loved was Fly Santa Fly

oldraver · 30/10/2011 12:58

Sorry that should Read 'Dear Santa'.. the same vane as Dear Zoo

Therupaxim · 30/10/2011 13:12

I second iskra's suggestion - I love reading 'Twas the night before Christmas' with the little one!

CreepyCaesar · 31/10/2011 11:47

Thank you everyone, some great ideas.

I am definitley going to do buy Night Before Christmas and he absolutley loves Dear Zoo so Dear Santa will be an winner.

My sister dug out Thats not my Santa but he's too old for that, DD (10 months) enjoyed stroking Sanats beard though!

I also have taught him Jingle Bells this weekend...very funny!

although the poster who started the thread about MIL and xmas might not think its so funny

You'll have to sign up for a message from Father Christmas on the PNP website then

Just beautiful watching them see it the first time. Damn near broke my heart watching ds utterly enchanted by it last year.
