dh is a massive geek.
we're talking computer games, comics, warhammer etc.

i am totally stuck as to what to buy him for christmas.
any ideas?

also it has to be on a budget of less than £40 as maternity leave has not been kind to the bank balance!

so far ive got DH a tshirt from www.threadless.com they have quite a lot of geeky tshirts. Will probably get him a tv series or a video game as well. Im on the sameish budget as you are

Tanif · 12/10/2011 15:11

There's a new Star Wars video game due out on 22nd December that DP has been strongly hinting about. Might be worth getting him that? Zavvi have it for £32ish.

ToothlessHag · 12/10/2011 15:38

oh also arkham city is coming out. That looks pretty good, DH is hinting at that.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 12/10/2011 16:01

Yeah - he has t-shirts from threadless and arkham is already on his list.

Our dh's all seem quite similar Hmm glad I'm not the only one with a massive geek at home! :)

I've got my DH this
which I think is double geeky Wink.

KinkyDorito · 12/10/2011 21:06

Got him Lego mindstorms last year, but that cost a bomb.

This year,so far, I've got a Bigtrak

And I've took a chance on some graphic novels I don't think he's read. I need to get my thinking cap on. I've spent the evening looking at t-shirts with Cthulu or Science slogans on them. Fun times.

I will be watching this with interest.

HidingInTheBathroom · 12/10/2011 21:10

I once got my DH a Fred dibnah DVD about steam engines. I find it extremely boring

chirpchirp · 12/10/2011 21:12

How about this lovely cthulhu christmas jumper!! kinky :P

I want to live in America now as they have the best stuff. I've been looking for a pair of these for DD www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/plush/8148/ but the shipping on them costs more than the bloody slippers! (Check the zombie slippers out too.) I've found some in this country, but they are £40 with shipping which I think is a lot for novelty footwear.

StarryEyedMama · 12/10/2011 21:47

Just brought DP a t-shirt from ebay with "Keep Calm and Kill Zombies" on it - I'm sure he'll love it. Not sure what on earth I'm gonna get to get with it, thinking maybe a GPS thing for when he goes out mountain biking.

KinkyDorito · 13/10/2011 07:28

Starry Where is the T-shirt from - I like that!

inmysparetime · 13/10/2011 07:35

I'm getting mine a periodic table shower curtain from Firebox (all round purveyor of all manner of geeky stuff)
DH is such a geek that in a software company, his boss got him a mug reading "office geek" - that's like "king of the geeks" given the general geekiness in the officeGrin

StarryEyedMama · 13/10/2011 21:39

KinkyDorito got it from ebay: here , also got him this one too: here

Just did a quick search for Zombie slippers and found these are they any good? May get some for DP but don't want to scare DS!

groak · 13/10/2011 22:20

Have a look at this website. Loads of ideas for all sorts of men. I quite like a few of the items and some are really useful.

TheJiminyConjecture · 14/10/2011 10:11

I got this for my DH's birthday. He loves it [nerd]

Star Wars Robe

clairefromsteps · 14/10/2011 21:55

OP, if your DH likes Warhammer, he might also like D&D. There is a D&D Starter Box in the shops now for about £20 I think. Ideal if he's not played it before. If he played it in the 80s, he might like the new D&D 4E Essentials books that are out. Or the Pathfinder Beginner Box that's being released on the 1st November.

All are on Amazon. Sorry, I may be a geek, but I can't do links.....

BestLaidPlans · 14/10/2011 22:22

Whole host of D&D geeks to buy for here, I'm liking these shirts especially the fantasy weaponry ones. Also knitting various dice bags including a cthulhu one.

Love the falcon shirt!

CubiksRube · 15/10/2011 19:25

I'm the geek of the family (actually, that's a lie, we're both geeks but I'm the one who likes sci fi ...).

For my birthday DP got me a replica of the 11th doctor's sonic screwdriver, which is awesome.

Other cool things ... finger puppets of Einstein, Oppenheimer etc? Can't remember where I found them but they are the cooloest things ever!

Some people love the big bang theory, some people hate it. I love it - box set?

On my list this year:

Evolution of gamers tshirt: www.neatoshop.com/product/Evolution-of-Gamers?tag=1588

R2D2 ice tray! In my humble opinion it simply doesn't GET cooler than this: www.neatoshop.com/product/R2-D2-Ice-Tray?tag=1588
