Anyone else counting down to the December Good Food magazine?

I'm starting to get excited already! Even though i'm not cooking Christmas dinner this year (for the first time in 8 years!), and the magazine annoys me more every year with its stupid number of ads, the day it comes out is still the official 'Halloween is out of the way, let's start humming Jingle Bells' day in this house : )

I buy it every year ( and Christmas editions several other magazines) and almost every year I'm disappointed. Don't really know why I keep buying them!

I used to have Good Housekeeping and Essentials on subscription then got Woman & Home on a discount for a year.

TBH I didn't read them ,so I cancelled W&H and let GH lapse. Still got Essentials but not going to renew.

Trouble is most of them are same-old-same-old.

I don't want to try a new Christmas Dinner, the one I do always works.
And the "we've tried all the Christmas food and here's what's best" depends on the magazine .(GH and W&H go for independant butchers/ grocers for your Free Range Kelly Bronze, Take a Break raves over Iceland and Asda )
This year I will buy GH and W&H Christmas issue and when Essentials comes in I'll set a day aside to read and get ideas.

My mum will be receiving hers at the beginning of November. I shall "aquire" it from her ASAP

LordOfTheFlies, that's my problem too, my Christmas menu is pretty much set in stone now so I don't really need the blasted thing. Especially when I've no intention of cooking on christmas day for the next 3 years or so! I just like things that shape the year. We've a local baroque music festival in November that used to help, but with a toddler to be babysat we can't go to 7 concerts in a weekend any more! So magazines will have to do : (
