Lets go...

I have a wreath for my parents and two hot water bottle covers planned for today - will let you know how I get on. Smile

Oooo, I'm loving this thread!
My poor old laptop can't handle all the tabs I've opened :-) luckily I've worked out how to do bookmarks and it seems a bit happier now.
Ive got a glorious day ahead as DP is out for the whole day. I'm going to make bacon jam and finish off my Christmas bunting. So many ideas - thanks everyone!

Stitchthis · 05/12/2011 06:45

31 gift tags made last night - phew. Like these. And done my wreath. Just have to finish my Christmas cushion and maybe make stockings for family guests. Bacon jam is calling tho Grin

Zeeky · 05/12/2011 07:30

I show DH the bacon jam link & he is now nagging me to make some! As always, time is running out & I haven't made half the stuff i wanted to despite starting early this year. Must make a mental note to self to start in August next year. Only 3 week until Christmas Day!!

PathOfLeastResitance · 05/12/2011 10:35

Well the bacon jam is lovely! I wholeheartedly recommend it!

overmydeadbody · 05/12/2011 13:26

stitchthis I love your gift tags, and the wreath. I have never had or made a wreath, but you are inspiring me to!

I have wrapped the few presents I have got so far, using a glue gun instead of tape to secure the wrapping paper, and it was much easier to get all the parcels looking neat without tape all over them.

I have decorated one of DS's presents by wraping it in red paper and then glueing on white buttons to make his first initial. It looks very effective. Buttons were just very cheap plastic ones off an old shirt.

Stitchthis · 05/12/2011 13:51

Thanks! Love the glue gun idea - might do that. The wreath was scarily easy - its loose and casual because I couldn't wrap the wire round the foliage properly do I used v thin grosgrain ribbon and tucked and glued it all in with ivy as 'string'. The mother of invention and all that. Go on, have a go!

Flubba · 05/12/2011 16:57

I love your wreath stitch. I cheated last year and made one that I'll be able to use again year on year (if it holds together!) here. Now if only I had a gluegun!! >>dreams of glueing pretty much anything and everything in a festive fashion>> :o

Stitchthis · 05/12/2011 18:13

Ooo little parcels! I like! Saving that idea....

GloriaHosannahHeadachePumpkin · 05/12/2011 19:45

Evening crafters!

Well I think everything is made

Sillyoldelf · 05/12/2011 21:02

Evening all , after a mad rush last week ( DH says I didn't come out of the kitchen ) , we are at centerparcs this week .But i still can't stop .. I have been sat studding oranges with cloves in pretty patterns ,so that I can gift them as pomanders( once I have rolled them in spices ,dried them out and wrapped ribbon around them .)
When I get back I have my Baileys fudge to make and my Christmas cakes to decorate . I really wanted to make some Christmas bunting too and some mulled wine syrup.. But I just know on Christmas day I will collapse in a big heap !

kiwibella · 05/12/2011 22:26

definitely going to try the oreo balls for my dd! I guess the quantity of cream cheese it's just judging the consistency of the mixture?

MartyrStewart - do you have a recipe for Guiness chutney? Have I got time to try making it?

kiwibella · 05/12/2011 22:27

congrats on your stall, Over - I've just signed up to the madeitmarket newsletter as I'm not too far from Cambridge.

TalullahBumblebee · 05/12/2011 22:43

jaffa cake idea sounds amazing!!!

MartyrStewart · 05/12/2011 23:03

kiwibella - here. I am planning to tell recipients to leave it to mature for a week or so.

So easy - it was actually my 6yo and 2yo that made it Blush

Flubba · 06/12/2011 05:44

I made Christmas bunting silly and it was easy and quick - a definite sit-in-front-of-the-telly job (although I did only do one-sided flags. I figured that most of the time it'll hang against a wall or banister or tree or something, so you don't need two sides Confused) :) Enjoy center parcs!

It's making Christmas card day today with my 4 and 3 year olds, so wish me luck! :o

Flubba · 06/12/2011 05:49

Ooh I like the idea of spicy guinness mustard! Have you tasted it martyr? I'd like to make it for my dad but I'd be a bit worried he'd think it was a bit gimmicky and not really very edible?

MartyrStewart · 06/12/2011 09:19

I have tasted it, but atm it still tastes of the seperate ingredients - it needs a couple of weeks to mature.

Sillyoldelf · 06/12/2011 17:46

Good point Flubba you have reinspired me ! My bunting is only going along a shelf so one sided will be fine . I hope the Christmas cards went well ! Am tempted to make homemade chocolate spread for the chocoholics in our family . Yum.

Flubba · 06/12/2011 19:14

Right then, I now have all the ingredients for the guinness mustard except for the mustard seeds Hmm Blush :o. Possibly my project for tomorrow then! :o On your heads be it martyr and thunder :o

Card-making went well even if I yelled like a banchee every time they stuck things on wonkily, or wrote hapy christms although they (understandably) gave up the ghost after about 30 cards, so I guess I'll be fnishing them off tonight :)

I made a gorgeous bag for my 14 yr old niece here ~ found a funky material in our local charity shop so didn't have the dilemma of the flowery one being a bit too 'old' and I've also made a rather gorgeous make-up bag (à la crayon/car roll) to match. Will post pics of that when I upload them.

Flubba · 06/12/2011 21:22

Done

overmydeadbody · 06/12/2011 22:55

I have just spent ages putting together a blog post full of loads of differnet handmade ways to wrap presents. Have a look and tell me what you think so I know if people like it or not.

Present Wrapping Inspiration

Not sure yet how I am going to wrap my presnets, but the ones done so far used brown paper or plain red paper with buttons stuck on to them to make the person's initials.

Vicki1981 · 06/12/2011 23:05

Gonna have a proper read through this when time allows.

I'm making: cranberry sauce, fancying up the turkey, all main dinner bits, dessert for non pud eaters, mince pies, tablecloth, some decorations, fudge, biscuits...

I 'think' that's it.

Flubba · 07/12/2011 05:35

:o vicki all sounds very easy to do and not at all time-consuming! Hmm :o

I'm intrigued as to what 'fancying up the turkey' involves though! :)

I've ordered my online shopping to be delivered 21st that way if they forget to bring me Mr Turkey I'll still have time to track me down another one BIL is supposed to be coming for Christmas and has a big appetite, so really need to know if he's coming or not. DH texted him at the weekend they're blokes so they don't do talking Hmm to ask and he still hasn't replied either way. Rudeness!

We're also having a Christmas party on 17th with potentially 100 guests >>gulp!
