ROFL at cheerful slapper Grin

Zeeky the oreo balls sound delish... might go make some later as research for next Christmas...

overmydeadbody · 01/12/2011 12:56

Thank you ohmygoshandgolly.

I hung up my handmade advent calendar yesterday. I made it last year, it was nice to just pull it out of the box rather than having to make soething from scratch.

For labels, you can buy A4 size sticker paper (so not those little address labels, just one big sheet) in both glossy and matt finish. Then you can print out your labels (try the graphics fairy for free printables) and cut them out to the size you want, using a cutting mat, stanley knife and ruler. That's what I did when I made car stickers for DP last year.

Amazon have a good range of sticker paper like this

overmydeadbody · 01/12/2011 13:04

I bought special waterproof A4 sticker sheets for the car stickers, but obviously you wouldn't need this for jam! Grin

Flubba · 01/12/2011 13:39

Hey over how did your stall go?

overmydeadbody · 01/12/2011 13:44

Hi Flubba,

the stall was really good, there were loads of really great stalls with amazing stuff on them, so I was very nervous and intimidated, but I put on a brave face! The fair was busy all day with loads of shoppers, every once in a while I made a sale and by the end I sold half my stock, sold out of the car carry cases, roll up spanner cases, and oven gloves. I sold lots of mini bunting kits and all the snack sacks too. I made £500 and have lots of stock left over to either sell on Etsy or give as Christmas presents. I will probably do it agian next year, but this time I will know what sells and what doesn't.

Flubba · 01/12/2011 15:22

That's fantastic over well done! You must be so relieved to have it out of the way :) :) What is a snack sack? Confused

Well ladies, I have just tried to make the candy-cane style biscuits with two of my Little Helpers. We had a lot of fun, and they taste great, but by 'eck they look pants!! :o :o Blush :o :o

I've started to assemble my hamper/present baskets for my family andthey look lovely. The mats & coasters turned out really well and am very tempted to keep them for myself Hmm :o

overmydeadbody · 01/12/2011 15:33

reusable fabric snack sacks Grin

You can see them all at the begining of the fair here, fourth picture down

The hampers sound great. I haven't even begun to make anything edible for Christmas yet, although I have lots of good intentions to! It's nice to just not do anything for a while though.

Flubba · 01/12/2011 15:51

My "hampers" aren't really hampers and they're not just edible stuff, basically I'm using baskets to present all one family's presents in - from tiny hairclips to handbags (I've now made five bags of different shapes and styles, depending on the material I had Blush and am keeping one for myself :o)

Ahh, snack sacks look ace! Beyond me methinks but I can see why they sold out quickly :)

MartyrStewart · 01/12/2011 16:01

Afternoon all Smile

I have finished my onion chutney, Guinness mustard is maturing nicely and I have a couple of other projects nearly finished.

That bacon Jam sounds absolutely delicious, I will have to make it at some point and eat it in a fried egg sandwich Grin

I didn't get your pin flubba, but I don't know if that's because I'm not looking in the right place?

MartyrStewart · 01/12/2011 16:04

Oops, missed a page Blush

Glad the fair went well - you are very brave. I'm worried that my stuff isn't even good enough give away, let alone sell Grin

Although I did try the chutney in a sausage sandwich - it was very nice.

overmydeadbody · 01/12/2011 16:27

Martyr I love the sound of Guinness mustard, DP would love that!Am going to make him some.

Zeeky I am now going to make Oreo balls instead of fiddly Christmas pud truffles so thank you! Grin

Well my craft fair went well, I made some money and then promptly spent it all on other stalls and there were some seriously good people there so feel pretty good Grin Everything that's left over is going in someone's Christmas bag (instead of a hamper) so lots of people are getting handwarmers and knitted snowmen this year Grin

Flubba · 01/12/2011 19:05

I've tried again Martyr ~ I have no idea where it appears for you Confused

Well done on your craft fair Gloria ~ and I'm the same in that a lot of people will be getting felt hearts from me for christmas this year :o

Flubba · 01/12/2011 20:46

Opinions please - am planning on making a kind of dangly bag with trim for my niece who's turning 14 this year. Do you ladies think the 'butterfly' type material I have used for the jeans buckety things and the doorstop (on profile) is too childish or pretty? Genuinely not sure. Think the pinky/red floral one I used for the shoulder bag is probably too 'old' for her but not sure.

johnworf · 01/12/2011 21:50

Love this thread. So many things that look fab, will be trying lots out this weekend Smile

RueDeWakening · 01/12/2011 23:39

Flubba- she's 14. That means she's an adult, no? :o I would go with the "adult" choice personally.

Flubba · 02/12/2011 09:55

Thanks Thunder and RueDe - I'm just being cheap and trying to use up material I already have. It's a bit Cath Kidstonesque so maybe I'll give it a go (I can always keep it for myself if it doesn't look right). Will add a "funky" [cringe] trim to keep it 'yoofful' Wink. Hoping for something like this but with cloth handles instead of the bamboo ones ?

So - two chickens or a big ol' turkey?Confused

overmydeadbody · 02/12/2011 18:30

I'd say go with the more adult fabric too, but having said that, she's just as likely to like the butterfly fabric! Grin

I know that's not very helpful, I find choosing fabric for spcific people quite hard too, especially if I don't know them that well.

Flubba · 02/12/2011 19:39

Problem is she doesn't live in the UK so what I might know about 'fashionable' things for 14yr olds here (being a secondary teacher helps) doesn't necessarily apply. However, I've picked up a pillow case with vey, vey funky colours on, so may well use that for the outside. Off out tonight, but will give things a play tomorrow...

Stitchthis · 03/12/2011 07:45

Hi everyone. Looking forward to a busy weekend?! I'm finishing off my family recipe book using blurb.com - been v easy so far. And making the wreath. And putting the tree up. And decorating. And making more gift tags. I'm tired already!
What is everyone else doing?!
