Starting Christmas shopping. Advice needed please?

Hi all

I'm going to drag DH to get some presents later, and I'm just wondering how people get round the gift receipt issue. I don't feel I can ask for a Christmas gift receipt in Oct .

Do you just buy gifts that are definately wanted?

I was offered gift receipts all over the place when I went shopping for new clothes for ds last week so it mist be expected by now

Just ask for a gift receipt! They won't care.

Hmm, but aren't gift receipts only valid for one month? that's my worry? so I will have to ask them to extend it until Jan lol!!! That will be soooooo funny DH will sneak out of shop in embarrasment!

I really don't think the bored checkout girl will care! October really isn't early to be Christmas shopping, loads of people have finished by now - don't worry about it.

PS Is your DH terribly self-conscious? I couldn't give a bugger what the staff in House of Fraser or wherever think, it's not like they know me.

Love - No not at all, he just thinks it bloody mad doing Xmas shopping in Oct. He will probably laugh when I ask for the reciept or be outside bored of the whole, "do you think x would like this top or that one".

It is nice to know that other people have asked for stuff extended though! Cam't wait to go now!

Much nicer shopping now than in December (but even nicer doing it now online!). Have a good shop!

People ask for gift reciepts all the time, for birthdays or whatever. Not sure if they would be valid from now til january, but that does normally start at the end of october, so not long to go!
