I think this means I need to join this topic now!

Notebook ready, planning begins.

Do the take or hold the money now, or later and nearer the time?

what goodies have u ordered?

TheSkiingGardener · 25/09/2011 21:01

They order when they check out. So I have ordered for the 22nd of December and they will take the money then.

And it's just a regular grocery delivery slot so have put lots of crisps, crackers, dips and cheeses on along with some other bits to get it up to £50. I'll edit it nearer the time and add all the other stuff!

I love Waitrose!

Did mine earlier too for the 23rd. Not sure if i will use them in the end - they haven't been able to deliver due to bad weather last twp years and I had to go to the store to collect - but I have reserved a slot anyway; may use or may pay for Ocado this time.

True Hulababy. I've tried Ocado though and to be honest have been more impressed with Waitrose here. Also, they charge an absolute fortune for their Christmas delivery! I resent paying that when Waitrose is free. If it comes to it, Waitrose isn't far and I have a big sled...

Don't use Ocado if you are worried about bad weather. We used them 2 years ago, and they couldn't deliver on 21st Dec due to snow. The trouble was their warehouse is in Herts (we are in Suffolk), so we couldn't even go and collect, unlike local shops. I ended up going round Tesco store (having gone on the bus as I don't drive) on 22nd Dec. Was totally packed, and I had to wait over an hour for a bus home due to snow.

Hulababy · 25/09/2011 21:13

I use Ocado the rest of the year but always feel cheated by theri £10 Christmas delivery charge. We did have a lot o snow the last two winters here but from what I remember Ocado did deliver when Waitrose couldn't because Ocado had snow tyres or something, hence me dithering over the choice. Waitrose is at least somewhere I can get too though if they don't show.

Maybe I should cut my losses and do both!

TheSkiingGardener · 25/09/2011 21:17

Book both and then cancel the Waitrose one the day before if you don't need it. Waitrose though don't let you know about substitutions in advance though so that could be a downside.

Me tooooo!!!

Ooooh thanks for the heads up. Just placed my order now for 23rd.
Last year they didn't deliver due to snow but it was still better that they had done the shopping for me which I just picked up from them.
