Home made Christmas pudding, can they be cooked in the microwave?

All the shop bought ones can, do I really have to steam for three hours? Anyone know?

My mil makes us christmas puds and we then reheat in ther microwave when we eat it. I think she does steam it for a long time while the initial making is going on.

I agree with inchoccy, I'd steam it when it's intially made weeks before Christmas. Microwave on Christmas day is absoutely fine.
