no more make your own badges, stickers, gift cards rubbish - they never work properly.

moon sand

hama beads

hot wheels tracks that take 6 hours to build and 2 seconds to break

anything that is meant to churn out anything near edible food - think chocoltae coins/ cupcakes.

anyone care to add - i wish i had this kind of list when my dc were little and i could have saved a fortune since i've bought most of this tat at some point over the last 11 years!

Ds 9yr and mindees aged between 3 and 9 spent the whole afternoon playing with our happy land sets yesterday which we've had since ds was 1.

I agree with r/c cars/trucks/robots and hot wheels toys. Every year both my sisters buy ds r/c something and hot wheels and every year they either don't work properly or he's just not interested.

dearprudence · 20/09/2011 22:12

I disagree about:
hama beads - DS has had brilliant fun out of these
play doh - this is ace
zhu zhu pets - ours has worked for over a year, but we only have the actual hamsters not the accessories.

Shite toys:
hot wheels, moon sand, magic sand (the stuff in water) and - biggest pile of shite ever - the chocolate coin maker.

DS got the plastic/foam wood kit for his birthday. The wood is fine, but don't waste money on the tools - a real hacksaw cuts it beautifully. The plastic saws don't.

DD shoved a Hama bead up her nose. Whilst sitting next to the health visitor.

I fully expect this surprise egg maker to be on this list after Christmas.

My sister bought dd1 some moonsand. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be after reading years of similar threads to this, but it doesn't come with a pot to put the sand in, plus there is no physical way of separating the colours out once they have mixed.

Here we hate puzzles that don't come with boxes, or puzzle books. Dd1 is only 4 so we haven't had many mistakes so far. I read these threads diligently though. Unfortunately my mum is usually a sucker for this sort of thing.
