JD bug scooter

tummytickler · 03/09/2011 00:41

When ds was 7 his big hits were a CD player for his room, box of plain Lego bricks, meccano and a skateboard.

ja9 · 03/09/2011 12:40

Thank you. He has a micro scooter but we may well be at skateboard stage...

nintendo ds with super mario kart & super mario bros

My ds has just saved up for and bought a proper stunt scooter - not a folding one. He's 10, and it's his favourite thing ever. It was 75 pounds.

seeker · 04/09/2011 06:56

sorry, didn't finish. Those scooters ar more "in" than skateboards round here.

ja9 · 04/09/2011 15:16

Seeker, could you link to the stunt scooter for me please? Do you think 7 is on the young side for it?

JD Bug scooter is my 10 year old's most favourite thing ever - he has had one since he was 8 and uses it daily still. he struggles with a skateboard.(his big brother s a skateboard king)
Similarly, he LOVES his roller skates.

Nerf guns

Lego

DS and therefore games

cds and cd player - for music and stories

When DS1 was 7 he had a metal detector - that was popular.

gillybean2 · 05/09/2011 11:59

If you think your ds is into such things he might like this which I just remembered that ds loved when he was 7 and for a long time after. He still knows where lots of the countries are and put his Year 7 geography teacher to shame when they had a fun quiz at Christmas!
www.amazon.co.uk/LeapFrog-40002-Interactive-Explorer-Globe/dp/B00005BYPA/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1315220090&sr=1-1

It has several settings, but the one ds used most was the one where the globe says a country and you have to touch it on teh globe with the pen. You can play with more than 1 player too.
It was quite a hit when he took it into primary school too.
If you do go for this make sure you get the UK voice and get him some headphones for it too... Grin

My 6 year old has a proper stunt scooter and now goes to the local skate park on it hopefully it'll last a bit longer than one of the folding ones that aren't that cheap, if you look up stunt scooters on eBay or something loads come up.

He also loves his ds, Lego (which I seem to find bits of everywhere!) and transformers.

timetosmile · 05/09/2011 21:29

electric guitar?...3/4 size one should be about right, or a proper-but-cheap keyboard?
Or his 'own' proper tent for the garden? lots of 2-3man ones going for a song at the end of Sept/Oct. esp if he's into Beavers/Cubs.
Or a simple digital camera.
Or a bedroom makeover (depending how brave you are feeling) ..we wrapped the curtains, duvet set, cushions, rug and bin(!) he had chosen and had a great morning putting it up.

5inthebed · 05/09/2011 21:42

Not a main present, but we bought DS1 Pinart last Christmas and he still plays with it almost daily

serin · 05/09/2011 21:45

Nerf gun.

ja9 · 05/09/2011 22:36
