About three weeks ago I started buying a few bits for a "sewing box and contents" present for Xmas 2011; and yesterday I bought a credit card wallet in the sales for next year.

Guitargirl · 30/12/2010 22:56

Oh God Blush, yes. I have bought some Christmas arts and crafts sets for other people's children's next year's December birthdays. And some stocking fillers for the DCs, and 'rainbow in the room' which was reduced.

reddaisy · 30/12/2010 23:33

What's Rainbow in the Room GuitarGirl? And DandyDan, buying for next year before this year's Christmas had started?! Now that is forward planning!

Reddaisy - Rainbow in my Room

Besom · 31/12/2010 09:34

If I did this I know I would put them away and forget they were there.

So, no, although it sounds like a good idea in theory.

ChippyMinton · 31/12/2010 10:09

Not presents but wrapping paper and cards.
Also a couple of boxes of racing reindeer crackers, as they were such a laugh. And even better at 70% off!

forthesakeofauldSaltire · 31/12/2010 10:16

I have. I hate shopping usually, but the Dses got vouchers for their christmas and wanted to get games. I mananged to get a stig keyring for Ds1 stocking next year. 2 thermal flasks, 2 make up bags and loads or wrapping paper. I usually start about July though.

ChippyMinton · 31/12/2010 10:46

I did buy a load of stuff for DD's birthday in 3 weeks time.

DandyDan · 31/12/2010 11:07

I also got wrapping paper and tags/ribbon reduced to 50p.

Yup, I had the idea to do a sewing box for one of my kids when I was visiting the mil in early December and saw hers, so next time I was passing the emergency sewing bit of the supermarket, I bought up some needles and pins and basic needlework scissors.

candykat · 31/12/2010 15:59

No. and really I'm just checking my name change worked, sorry.

SecretNutellaFix · 31/12/2010 16:00

I will be starting very shortly.

Cannot go through all that stress again, especially if my mother gets ill again.

ScoutingForSanta · 31/12/2010 18:29

I started two weeks ago. Blush There are LOADS of people in the family to buy for, so spread out the pain. I keep a spreadsheet of every family member and what we have for them so that when gift giving comes around (birthdays, Mother's Day, etc) we just go to the list, pick something to give then get it from the "gifts box" and wrap it. 'Tis fab!

I also have a friend back home (am American living in the UK) who loves loves LOVES the English Santa stuff, so now is the time to buy it all and tuck it away for our annual Thanksgiving trip.

I am a sad, sad individual but it's nice to see I'm not alone!

traceybath · 31/12/2010 18:30

Blush Have bought all wrapping paper and a present for mil.

lucysmam · 31/12/2010 20:19

Am glad it's not just me! Have got all my paper and cards and some bows (didn't have enough left in my purse for them as well so wil be going back after the weekend to see if any are left)

Also got dd1 a little lego police helicopter for £1.24 from Wilko as she's obsessed with helicopters [boy in disguise]!

Will be buying for next Xmas from here on in..... anything I see that's suitable will be hidden away

Guitargirl · 31/12/2010 23:07

Scouting - love the spreadsheet idea!

blametheparents · 01/01/2011 15:15

Yep! Stocking fillers for kids, great time to buy ans lots are half price.
Also bought stuff for DD's party bags from Claire's Accessories, again all in the sale. Her birthday is in March, so I am feeling very well organised.

jenk1 · 01/01/2011 15:24

yes bought some wrapping paper and cards from asda reduced and a couple of bits for DDs stocking, i buy through the year to spread it out and get the big things with my love2shop vouchers which come at the end of october.

Scoutingforsanta am liking the idea of a "gift box" i am going to try that one Grin

HaveAHappyNewJung · 01/01/2011 15:48

No, I haven't, as we have a tiny house so no room to store anything.

But I did go to Boots twice for the sales - DH works for them so with staff discount we get amazing deals.

So I did get some presents for DD's 4th birthday in June, and DS's 2nd birthday in August.

DD got the Ben and Holly Gaston's cave, a Peppa Pig bath boat and an Orchard Toys game called 'one banana two banana'

DS got a little Lofty crane from Bob the Builder, and a Little People castle with dragon and catapult. Which DH wanted to play with straight away :o

Cost should've been over £70 but ended up at less than £30 so I'm pleased. Have agreed that the next few months will be No Frivolous Spending so I'm glad I've done this already!

mumeeee · 02/01/2011 21:14

No I would never buy presents for next Christmas this early. I do sometimes buy crakers and wrapping paper, But we have nearly a full box of crakers left over and almost 2 big rolls of wrapping paper so don'rt need to buy anymore for next Christmas,

Breezy1985 · 03/01/2011 04:03

Have got all my wrapping paper and cards sorted..

Haven't started buying for next christmas yet but have picked up some bits for DD's birthday at the end of July :)

selby · 03/01/2011 16:27

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 03/01/2011 16:32
