My 2 ds 4 and 8 were fast asleep by 7.45 the 8 year old would have tried to go to sleep at 6pm if i had let him. The 4 year old normally asleep by 8.15 holidays and 8 year old 9pm i have a horrid feeling they will be up at 6am.

but i do remember as a child waking up at 3am and feeling the stocking on my bed and being so excited but did go back to sleep.

My DS, 3 went to bed at his normal time 7.30 but when I went up to check on him about an hour later he had his eyes shut and told me he was asleep so santa could visit him!

InterruptingCow · 24/12/2010 22:07

My dss (6 and 8) were in bed at their usual time of 8.00pm. Much talking and giggling, though. I went up at 8.30 to remind them that Santa wouldn't come and all has been quiet since. They have promised not to get up till 7.00am but I'm not convinced that will happen!

lal123 · 24/12/2010 22:08

normal time here - both in bed by 7.15 or so - DD1 knows that Santa is starting his deliveries here (he told her in his letter) so she sensibly decided she'd better go to bed early - think we'll be following them soon

DandyDan · 24/12/2010 22:10

Sadly, ours stay up now until we go to Midnight Mass together; then when they get back, they have a cup of tea or a glass of something in front of the fire before we pack them off to bed at about 1.30am. Then Father Christmas can come.

coffeekaren · 24/12/2010 22:12

Yes my 2 were of the mind set to be on best behaviour for the final sleep - and yes i have also said santa will not be coming all day today on over 10 ocassions. Best get some sleep now whilst i can. Hope santa is good to you all!

Well I'm jealous - my youngest 2 (DD is nearly 3 and DS is 6 months) have been asleep since 8 but eldest 2 are 14 & 11 and have only just reluctantly sidled off to bed. Can't fill the stockings yet as 11yr old DD claims to still believe in Santa and will hear us so have to wait until she's asleep.

Trouble is, I've been racing around all day getting bits done plus cooked Christmas dinner (we had ours today instead of tomorrow) and I can barely keep my eyes open!

moonbells · 24/12/2010 22:17

I got mine (3 and usually a complete PITA to get to sleep before 9) in by 7.45 and asleep not much later because Santa doesn't come if you're awake, does he?

:)

Happy Christmas

nappyaddict · 24/12/2010 22:18

Aww that's lovely that she still believes at 11. Is she in year 6 or 7?

piratecatClaus · 24/12/2010 22:21

dd8 went up at 8, read till 9. and is now asleep i 'think'

do you put stocking at the end of the bed? I wish i hadn't carried on this tradition, and thought it thru!

under the tree down here would be much easier!

Hulababy · 24/12/2010 22:22

8yDD went up at 8:30pm and ent to sleep straight away. However, FC has recently been and set everything up and DD has stirred and woken. Eeek!

sleighBELLasringing · 24/12/2010 22:24

My boys 13.6 and 11 are both a little under the weather with colds, DS2 took himself off at 9.00pm and DS1 at 9.15pm Shock. Even on a school night DS1 doesn't go to bed until 10.00pm.

jemimapotts · 24/12/2010 22:24

Mine 11,9 and 5 just gone to bed. After stockings, must remember tooth fairy has to visit as DS1 just lost a tooth. I hope I remember as can hardly keep my eyes open!

Carrotsandcelery · 24/12/2010 22:30

When I was a kid stockings went at the end of our beds but we put them in the lounge by the hearth. I am so glad we do as our staircase is very tricky.
Ours went to bed at normal time (7.30 for ds and 8 for dd) and ds was asleep within minutes. DD was falling asleep cuddled into me during her story so fingers crossed.
Need to go and see if Santa can come yet!

piratecatClaus · 24/12/2010 22:33

good luck ,i will give it a bit longer. eeks!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 24/12/2010 22:38

All in bed by 8.30 but dd aged 7 is still awake argh! Too excited. I have a chest infection and am shattered. Sooooooooooo want her to go to sleep so Santa can deliver presents and stockings.

piratecatClaus · 24/12/2010 22:42

gosh poor you, i have a cold and am knackered, i feel for you.

isitmidnightalready · 24/12/2010 23:13

My three (4,9,12) all ran to bed (!) at 7.45pm and are still awake! Looks like being a long night for us..... So much for the smug grins of myself & DP that they were all in bed so early...

bighug · 24/12/2010 23:17

my 7 year old is still awake, just twiddling thumbs till can do stocking etc!! glad to know I'm not alone!

nappyaddict · 24/12/2010 23:34

bighug They do know Santa comes at midnight don't they and if they aren't in bed and asleep he will miss their house out?

purpleturtle · 24/12/2010 23:40

Kept my 3 up till 10. They went straight off. Wouldn't do that normally, let alone on Christmas Eve, so I decided to keep them up late rather than get mad at them staying awake with excitement.

3.3 nightmare sleeper anyway (in that he doesn't need much) went to bed about 8.45 which is early for him bt awake til gone ten and not a happy bunny at all - think he is very overwhelmed and a bit unsure of it all! We are knackered, sooooo many late nights and not even wrapped his presents eyt Shock

nappyaddict · 24/12/2010 23:51

DS was overwhelmed last year too at 3.6 Am hoping he will be better this year. What time does he normally go to bed?

LauLauLemon · 25/12/2010 00:22

DD1 (2.6) went to bed at the slightly earlier time of 6:30pm (usual time of 7pm) due to having no nap all day, a lot of family visits and excitement and being overtired because of it. She fell asleep right away after saying "I be good girl now Mummy and go sleep so morning Santa come and bring me PRESENTS!!!" After that she literally plopped her head down on to the pillow, told me she loved me and closed her eyes!

Breezy1985 · 25/12/2010 00:26

Mine are 6 and 5, went to bed at 8pm and finally they both gave in at 11.45!!!
