What do you take for the host of Christmas Day?

We're off to SIL's for Christmas dinner, and it's only just occurred to me that I've not bought anything specific to take. She didn't want any contributions, so is doing all the big stuff herself; we've bought a bottle of champers to take, but as we all know, hosting Christmas is such a big and expensive thing to do that a bottle of champagne doesn't seem enough.

Some flowers, some helping hands, and maybe a secret treat for her.

Last year I bought my SIL lots of Clarins stuff, just for herself to say thank you. This year, she has already told me NOT to! But she is happy if I bring some Champers and Cherry Brandy.

She is coming to me New Year's Eve and she says it is tit-for-tat.

But I definitely know how grateful I was that she did EVERYTHING for Christmas Day last year when I was so under the weather.

depends on how much you want to spend - you could give the some vouchers for a meal out or bring an M&S meal for 2 for them to put in their freezer for the New year.

Well, we're hosting this year (9 adults, 7 kids), and alcohol will be very welcome! No need for food unless specifically requested as she will have catered already. So some nice champers/red/white or even a bottle of whisky/port if that's what they'll drink...
