Just wondering what I he could have instead.

Maybe a glass of Baileys and something sweet from M&S? Any recommendations?

I fancy one of those Doves Farm Chocolate Rice bar things. So, that'll suit Santa fine, I think! Oh, and of course a carrot for Rudolph.

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 22/12/2010 19:46

Rudolph might be getting dog food this year.
Santa will be having a ham salad sandwich i think, mmm or a bacon butty.... Xmas Smile

Guitargirl · 22/12/2010 19:50

Father Christmas is getting the gingerbread house that the DCs will be making on Christmas Eve. [Need to make sure that they don't see it in the bin as nobody actually likes it]. Rudolf will be getting reindeer food [will probably feed that to the birds - am assuming that birds are ok with edible glitter!?] Actually they might like the gingerbread too...

tarantula · 22/12/2010 19:55

Santy gets whatever we have to hand. So generally a mince pie and a glass of beer.
What is important is that the reindeer get a large clump of moss eat which dp has to go out and collect from the woods on Christmas Eve with dd Xmas Grin

lal123 · 22/12/2010 19:58

We'll leave him a glass of milk and a mince pie - no drink sleighing santas here.

I remember when I was little leaving out a galss of milk for Santa. In the mornign hte glass had disappeared, for years I thought Santa was a theiving b***d with a penchant for cheap glasses

mybootsaremuddy · 22/12/2010 21:20

My dc made truffles for their teachers and have some left over so santa is getting a little box to take back and share with Mrs FC! He gets hot choc in a thermos to drink. The reindeer get a bucket of water and some 'magic oats' (poridge oats and glitter mixed together) which i have made in secret every year since the dc were realy little and tell them its what makes them flyWink and that i get it from a special shop that is only open one day in dec and happens to be on a school dayGrin. I usualy go out and sprinle a little in the yard so it looks like they've been there.

CaptainNancy · 22/12/2010 21:25

Heheh- mumsnetters would never leave smarties out for the elves, because they're nestle...

ReshapeWhileDamp · 22/12/2010 22:28

Glass (or two) of port and a mince pie if any are left by then!

Carrot for reindeer, but DS is worried they will also eat the carrot nose off his 'snow baby' that he made with DH! Xmas Grin

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 22/12/2010 22:52

Its our first year this year and DS and I are very excited ..... thinking a slice of home made bara brith (welsh fruit cake) with thick butter and a mug of hot chocolate with amaretto, cream and marshmallows - and will probably make some magic reindeer food as I only have lazy carrots!!

maighdlin · 22/12/2010 23:09

my DD is only 16 months and has no clue yet but this is our first "just us" xmas so im doing everything. i have the reindeer food from the childrens hospice (saw dust and glitter you put out in the garden) and santa will be getting a dry martini and some macaroons.

when i was younger santa got a pint of milk (a FULL pintShock) two ginger nuts and a tea cake. i remember being an odd child and putting a carrot out with a note saying that it was for blitzen as rudolph got carrots from everyone and it wasn't fair. why blitzen got my carrot i have no idea i probably just liked the name. :)

FellatioNelson · 22/12/2010 23:19

This will be the first year we will not be putting anything out for Santa. He's been laid off due to dwindling interest and a new found healthy cynicism in our house, now youngest is 11. Feel very sad, but DH thrilled he will no longer have to take copious chunks out of a raw carrot.

He'll miss the nip of whisky or brandy though. Grin

MrsBadger · 22/12/2010 23:31

dd (3.5) claims santa likes beer, like Daddy...

huffythethreadslayer · 22/12/2010 23:53

Organic beer and a mince pie for santy, carrots for Rudolph.

DD will leave him a letter, saying she hopes he likes both, she'll thank him for last years pressies and say she hopes she'll get one of the gifts from her list for this year. He can choose which one.

He then writes one back, telling her how she's got more than one gift because she's been such a good girl. And he appreciates the beer, the mince pie and the carrot.

I can't wait.

DD is now 9 and doesn't really believe in santa, but plays along for our amusement...and just in case :)

Too big a risk to deny the existence of a being who brings you gifts on Christmas day!

jetsetmum · 23/12/2010 00:07

Santa gets milk and mince pie. DC's dad who no longer lives with us (thank god) is an alcoholic so DC's don't want Santa to go the same way.

Rudolph gets a carrot to share with the other reindeer and they sprinkle reindeer food (ready brek & glitter) along the garden path to create a landing strip.

LittlePushka · 23/12/2010 00:13

Neat sloe gin on ice (large) and a ramekin of jumbo cashews... bloomin' marvelous!! Xmas Grin

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 23/12/2010 00:56

Cant believe no-one will be leaving Pom-bears for Santa? Come on - own up!!!

Zeeky · 23/12/2010 04:50

Had to make some biscuits specially for FC today as DS hmis insisting that we leave out milk & cookies (he's been brainwashed by the American Christmas films/programmes we've watching).

As a child we always had to leave a glass of homebrew or a can of bitter with a mince pie. Mum says dad often had to down it fist thing in the morning as they forgot about it the night before!

mumzy · 23/12/2010 09:17

glass of whisky and a nice chocolate

mumzy · 23/12/2010 09:18

Just had a M&S cherry liqueur chocolate (so one of those please!)

zafrostypee · 23/12/2010 11:32

marzipan kartoffeln. YUM.

panettoinydog · 23/12/2010 13:08

marzipan potatoes doesn't do it for me

FellatioNelson · 23/12/2010 13:13

Me neither, and I'll eat marzipan any which way. Confused

KittyFoyle · 23/12/2010 13:33

FC told the children that 'carrots make the reindeers biff' so asked for sweetcorn instead. And also told them he only likes meat mince pies. So that's what he's getting this year. The children are very anxious to comply with his wishes.

MinnieMummy · 23/12/2010 14:16

I am impressed by the multi-cultural variety of foods!

Have to say, I hadn't thought about either a) something for Rudolf or b) leaving 'evidence' behind to show he's eaten/drunk it. Definitely DH's job to bite into a raw carrot.

DD1 did get a small box of Smarties from her preschool as a christmas gift and I was very tempted to start an 'AIBU to be outraged that my DD has been given Smarties, what were they thinking?!!' just to see if it kicked off, but thought no one would think it was funny couldn't be bothered.

I really want some Baileys now (I blame Reality's thread) but we don't have any in the house, and I don't really want to buy an entire bottle just for Xmas eve.

Sherry, mince pie (made by dd), a few Quality Street as she has decided he likes them, and carrots for Rudolph.
