Xmas gift dilemma

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 00:10

Have made a photobook from my charges to their parents for christmas....they are BEYOND excited to give it to them

but it hasnt turned up! was dispatched on Wednesday should have been here Thursday but it's not

I start work at 7.30am on Monday so even if it turns up then I can't get it.

They then go away on Tuesday, kids wanted to take it with them to open on xmas day

They take some gifts away and leave the rest to be opened when they come back, they comeback 5 days before I return to work

Options

  1. Explain to them that it hasn't turned up and give it to them when I get back (Eldest will understand, 7yo will be absolutely gutted)

2.Hope it comes on Monday and if it does then pay my DB to bring it to work for me!

  1. Put it under the tree whilst they're away (I have keys but it's odd to go in when they're not there....even though I know they won't mind)
  1. Pray the postman delivers at 6am on Tuesday then run it down

Argh! Bloody snow!

Maybe mention to the parents that the children have organised a gift but it's not arrived yet and just ask if it's ok to pop it in the house while they're away if it comes before they are back.

Also how about quickly making something else on monday that they can take with them so there's something for them to give them on the day?

I suggest you run down to WHSmiths (or similar) to get some calander pad things and get them to make a pictue each and stick a calander tab on it.

What Gilly said (ta Gilly!!) x

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 14:17

Only problem is kids are DESPERATE that they don't know and will be surprised on xmas day (they paid for the book themselves! well at least they think they did!)

and their parents are (honestly) the worst in the world at faking surprise!!

The arrival date/time of said parcel is out of your hands
So there's not a lot you can do other than make a contingency plan...

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 14:47

I know, just disappointed really....especially as I ordered it almost a month ago! with 4-7 working days for delivery from order date!

OP posts:
gillybean2 · 19/12/2010 14:50

I do feel your pain. Am waiting on one parcel myself, but it is somethign I can pop out and get last minute if necessary. Not an option for you with this item I appreciate Xmas Sad

Yes they are - they were here at 7 this morning - only a bill though :(

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you that it arrives early tomorrow...

SummerRain · 19/12/2010 16:38

fingers crossed MNSP... we're waiting on a photobook for dp's parents which has to be posted down to them when it arrives [no chance emoticon] I gave in on Friday and picked up a few other bits and wrapped them and sent them down... the book will be new years present now!

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 16:53

Where did you order yours from SummerRain?

Can't even buy them anything else as its from Charges

I'm panicking now!

I'm in Ireland so used Foto.ie because they had the nicest page layouts and backgrounds of the sites I checked. I left it very late though as the credit card was maxed out. According to the site it's ready but still has to be packaged and posted

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 19:59

No more deliveries today

at this point I'm losing hope it will EVER arrive

Is there a photo developing shop near your work? Could you get some photos printed then get the dc to make their own little book each from paper and stick a few of the photos in?

I did this for Mother's Day a couple of times with my mindees and they look very cute - especially when made by over enthusiastic CM small children!

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 21:27

Unfortunately tomorrow we have about 2344000 things to get done and just won't have the time

I'm irritated and the kids are going to be gutted!

damn snow grrr

Can you print something off home pc?

I can get you a link for an a4 calendar that you upload a photo to then the company email you the calendar for you to print out yourself. Only takes a few minutes.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 19/12/2010 21:39

Printer is on the blink! and the cable for the one at work has evaporated somewhere :o

thank you so much anyway!!

OP posts:
mogs0 · 19/12/2010 22:06

OP posts:
gillybean2 · 21/12/2010 10:17

Aww :(
I'm sure they (parents) will understand.
Hopefully it'll come before they get back and you can pop under the tree.
Well, assuming they manage to get away given the current travel chaos I see on the news.
