well done you!

I buy white marzipan and make up 2 or 3 amounts in different colours with food colouring and then me and DS1 and 2 make little santas and parcels - about an inch high. Just like playing with playdoh! They come out a bit funny but we love them.

is it flat fondant icing or peaked royal icing?

CherryTheRedNosedMonster · 17/12/2010 17:09

its flat fondant icing. i have sorted it. i got a string of purple beads and have wrapped them all the way round the sides of the cake, and left the top plain. it looks lovely.

well done you, it occurred to me yesterday that I haven't even considered icing it yet. I think it is going to remain uniced (unless you'd like to do mine too?!)

MooMooFarm · 17/12/2010 22:05

Oh poo should I have done mine by now then? I'm planning on doing marzipan and then rough royal icing (ie the easy type of icing!)

Deafworm · 17/12/2010 22:08

me too, with my first cake too. I put snowmen and snowballs on the top, and red stars around the side. I piped merry christmas onto the top in red too

NoahAndTheWhale · 17/12/2010 22:09

Ours will get iced on Christmas Eve but will get royal iced which gets done later or it would go hard.

paarrp · 17/12/2010 22:11

just did mine too - have pressed a christmas tree shaped cookie cutter into it and then put little silver balls into where the 'cuts' were so I have a nice sparkly xmas tree shape - will add some sparkly stars tomorrow.
Can't wait to eat it - smells delish
