Do people have very big stockings, or very small children? How does a whole Christmas outfit go in a stocking> Or and annual, come to that?

BornToFolk · 16/12/2010 10:21

DS is 3 and has asked for (and is getting)

  • 5 cars with doors that open
  • a teddy called Horace
  • a chocolate penguin with Smarties inside
  • some drawing paper

as well as

  • 2 secondhand Ladybird books
  • a Toy Story magic flannel
  • chocolate coins
  • gummy sweets
  • Peppa Pig mug with marshmallows and chocolate
  • two boxes of sugary cereal
  • socks
  • pants
  • really cheap mini felt tips from Rymans

I'm making our crackers too so he'll have a wooden watch and a chocolate lolly in that (adults are getting miniature spirits and truffles!)

Looking at it, it does seem like a lot of chocolate and sweets but he's not normally allowed many and we'll do a bit of rationing.

sheeplikessleep · 16/12/2010 10:31

We've got sacks here Blush. I found it too hard to find small things DS would actually like.

PeppermintPanda · 16/12/2010 23:16

DD1 (5) is getting:
a pink guitar (all she has asked for)
a learn to play guitar book and dvd
pink guitar strap
Jamie and Angus Forever book
Olga da Polga book
set of stamps and ink pads
scissors
sun paper
glitter glues (if Amazon ever deliver them)
Tinkerbell DVD
Apple
Chocolate coins

DD2 (3) is getting:
little space rocket (what she asked for)
Brambly Hedge books
Dolls pushchair
Toy toolkit
make a magic wand kit
Peppa Pig DVD
window pens
Bath beans
Clementine
Chocolate coins

I might have got a little carried away there... Confused

They don't have stockings, they have big sacks that I made them a couple of years ago, but even so. I'm not sure I'll be able to fit the guitar in! That was going to be her main present from us, but since she wrote him a letter, and asked him in person, it looks like Father Christmas is going to be getting the credit for it!

I am taking my girls to Disneyland Paris on Sat and have a budget of twenty euros each for thier stockings which I am going to enjoy picking way more than they are going to enjoy opening! Santa is also bringing a lotso bear for them (toy story 3) Xmas Smile

sumum · 16/12/2010 23:41

Mine have stockings in their room and main presents downstairs.
They can open stocking in bed so only have safe and clean things in it that they can have unsupervised.
The idea is to keep them occupied for a while till adults are ready to get up, usually still very early.

So this year they are all getting a magazine and pens, a small box cereal to eat plus fruit, maybe couple of chocolate pennies each and a small plastic tat toy.
Our stockings are quite small.

  • necklace and bracelet
  • clementine
  • nuts
  • a few chocolate coins
  • a shiny pound coin (which I will let her buy any old sugary crap she likes with instead of encouraging her to save it or buy something I think is worth it)
Horton · 17/12/2010 21:54

I think I might have gone over the top a bit, actually. But her requested FC present is a fridge which really works for her little kitchen set up, so I got her a mini fridge from Argos and it only cost twenty quid so have gone to town on the little presents.
