Recipe said 2.5-3h @ 250F ie Reg1/2. I was a bit but it's a new recipe so I thought best do as it says.

Better be worth it.

I gave up after 1am, switched the oven off, left the cake in it and went to bed.

Today it has flopped to less than half the height it was in the oven, with an over-baked ring standing high that I will have to carve off before decorating.

Haven't a clue whether the centre is cooked!

I have a cake that I cooked at weekend and now need to ice in time for a friend's birthday at weekend.

Christmas cakes often take longer to bake than the recipie says I've found, and now make sure to put mine in the oven no later than lunchtime!
