Help needed with homemade peppermint Christmas tree decorations?

When I was a kid, my sister and I used to make peppermint Christmas decorations - stars and Christmas tree shapes etc which we put a hole in and then hung up with ribbon, but can't remember how we made them (though my sis reckons we used icing sugar and peppermint flavouring?) - can't find anything useful on t'internet.

Anyone able to help? Xmas Smile

was it a recipe for peppermint creams, do you think?

It's not Christmas without peppermint creams!!Xmas Grin
White from one large egg or two small eggs
8 oz icing sugar
Small amount of peppermint essence
Food coloring (optional)

Jubbly - thank you pinkem and chippy - do I bake them? (all I remember is that we used to eat them before they made it to the tree, and they were invariably grey in colour because of our grubby little fingerprints!! mmmh, tasty! Xmas Wink

thinking about it, it wouldn't make sense to bake them - but are they safe to eat for children and pregnant women (me!)?

Just pop them in the fridge to harden. I can remember eating lots of them from a young age but not sure on advice for pregnancy.
